R-Type Dimensions on XBLA this week

2D and 3D cuddle up by the fire.

Microsoft has said R-Type Dimensions will be out on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, 4th February, for 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40).

Dimensions contains classic side-scrolling shooters R-Type and R-Type II. Plus, there's a new Infinite Mode to up the challenge, and flashy 3D graphics can be swapped with the 2D originals on the fly.

Local co-op is in, and uses a ship collision and revive system to mix things up a bit. And, because we're in the 21st Century, a continue option and stage-unlock feature have been bundled in.

R-Type began life in arcades back in 1987, and followed spaceship Arrowhead battling for mankind against evil alien Bydo. Original developer Irem has been replaced by Tozai Games for this version, and the latter will also deliver retro remake Lode Runner on Xbox Live Arcade soon.

Look out for our thoughts as soon as we can think them.
