PS3 Mass Effect 2 gets free launch DLC

No charge for new weaponry, armour.

PlayStation 3 owners who pick up Mass Effect 2 when it launches later this month will be privy to a batch of free DLC for BioWare's epic action RPG.

According to the game's Facebook page, you'll be able to download the Terminus Armor and M-490 Blackstorm Projector Weapon free of charge from the PSN Store until 23rd February. After that, you'll need to open your wallets.

What does it do? Well, the armour increases running speed, beefs up your shields and augments ammo capacity, while the M-490 creates a devastating miniature black hole.

The extra content was originally offered as an incentive to pre-order the PC or Xbox 360 version of the game through Play.com or US retail chain GameStop.

Publisher EA hasn't announced any plans to make the content available to PC or Xbox 360 gamers via other means.

Eurogamer's game of the year will be available for PlayStation 3 from 21st January.
