Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate review

zuffler

absolutely loved MHFU on my PSP via Ad Hoc Party on my PS3. WTF is the PS4 version? C'mon Capcom, stop taking the exclusive money from Nintendo and develop this for something other than a handlheld, you never know, you might just get more sales...

sold, can't wait for this to release, one of the most beautiful games I ever played and the soundtrack was amazing! If you have never played Homeworld or Homeworld 2, you really owe it to yourself to do so.

I don't remember a game that took this long to develop turning out to be amazing. Perhaps the cognoscenti can correct me? I really had high hopes when I first learnt about this but the longer it goes on, the sadder I become :(

Absolutely loved WAR and DAOC before that (well apart from the first relic raid when the relic was bugged and nobody could pick it up or move it!). Had some of the best PvP ever in an MMO and I'm truly looking forward to the next installment!

Battlefield 4: disaster report

You can pay 70 for a kart in Angry Birds Go!

zuffler

Whether you all like it or can afford it is irrelevant, there are people out there who spend 70 like you spend 70p. If you choose to play a game for free and invest more at a later stage is entirely up to you. Most games that pursue this business model either allow you to grind for the same item at the cost of vast amounts of your life or offer you a way to save time and get what you want straight away.
I paid 50 for Last of Us and got stuck after 1 hour, I feel cheated I paid all that money up front only to have it sitting on a shelf because I'm not good enough to play it proficiently. Had I been able to try before I bought and enjoyed it more I would happily have paid more.

You guys may hate micro transactions but the numbers for the old world model don't add up any more. All future games will be Free to Play with micro transactions. EA are already on record as saying all their games will be digital download and free to play. How long do you think the other publishers and developers are going to stay as they are when their competition is giving their games away for free?

I'd urge you all to read a book called 'The Curve' by Nicolas Lovell if you want to have an objective, educated argument about this. Read the first chapter at least where he talks about Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) giving 5 albums away for free on the torrent sites to get awareness and a fanbase and then sells 2500 limited edition, signed hard copies for $300 in 36 hours for a total of $700,000, which is more than he'd made in the entirety of his 10 year career previous to that! It's no different for games.

Capcom: no plans for Monster Hunter 4 on PlayStation Vita

zuffler

id actually buy a vita if this was released for it. Absolutely loved MHFU on my PSP. Given the millions of sales of this title in Japan, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo had funded the entire development cost knowing full well the potential exclusive killer apps have in terms of shifting hardware sales.

Stuart Black to leave Codies in Oct

dont talk a 24 carat game with a 9 carat walk... This industry is full of overblown egos taking credit for things they have nothing to do with. Black was a mediocre game at best - you could destroy the scenery, big fucking deal.. These people sit on their arse all day, blow a load of hot air out of their arse and when you ask them to design a simple combat fighting system or a list of weapons to be used in game they don't have a clue.. Good riddance I say!

Monster Hunter isn't hardcore - creators

zuffler

Monster Hunter isn't hardcore, sure it's not easy and takes a long time to master but it pays off in spades once the user gets proficient. It took me 600 hours to get to the top (Hunter Rank 9) but I honestly have not had such pleasure from a handheld game ever and I'm amazed at the depth and strategy incorporated into the game. People these days want instant gratification, to 'win' in no time at all and give up at the first sign of adversity. Me, I prefer a challenge and this is one of the best value games on PSP there is. With the advent of Ad Hoc party on PS3 it's simple to get a 4 player game (when Ad Hoc is working that is..) and there are a lot of very nice high level players more than happy to help people out on quests they're stuck on. a 10/10 game for me and I urge you all to persevere with it!

Current PSP Championship Manager is a great effort, will look forward to seeing what SI can come up with.

According to this link http://egm.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3147792 FM 2006 on 360 is going to be the first game on 360 to 'require' a Hard Drive- unlucky all those who got the 'tard' pack

if you had a brain in your head you would realise that PSP CM is developed by Gusto not BGS and as such would not tar this game with the same brush!

PSP CM is actually very good, borrow a copy from a mate or ask to have a go in the shop and you will be pleasantly surprised!
