Morrowind on Xbox One X: the slowest Elder Scrolls console game is now the fastest

xYOSSARIANx

Great game, a truly epic adventure. The Xbox version to the best of my knowledge never received the update that converted the amazing novel like journal into something you could actually find out what the hell you were supposed to be doing. By the time it got to 200 pages long, which is not very far in, I lost track of most of the quests. The PC version got a redone journal, did the Xbox ?

@Ivattthestanier I don't believe he lied, I believe he genuinely planned everything he said to be in the game. I do believe he totally underestimated the complexity and size of the task. And in the end Sony lost patience and said ship it. His vision was bigger than his team and skill or what Sony was prepared fund.

I'm not keen. To much white space, massive ads, no de-linearisation between features and stuff, as some else said it looks like the page hasn't loaded fully. I guess you'll tweek and I'll become accustomed, at least I hope that's what happens.

New report paints Visceral's cancelled Star Wars project as troubled from the off

xYOSSARIANx

When I think of Star Wars, the things that signal I'm in the Star Wars universe is sound effects and music. I don't necessary have to have Jedi's, the Force or Wookees. It's the distinctive sounds and John Williams score that immerse me, and makes me believe we are in a Galaxy far far away. The game just had to have a solid story and look and sound like Star Wars to have been of interest to me. EA don't know their arses from their elbows.

Call of Duty: WW2 has a London map set during the Blitz

xYOSSARIANx

So it's American GI's v The Wehrmacht in London during the Blitz over a year before the US entered the war ? Is it really to much effort to put a Tommy uniform, LE.303 and Stirling SMG skin in.

Remember when COD had Russian British and American content.

Buying armour and weapons, forging weapons, loot, in a World War II game ? I was happy about WW2 being the focus of a few shooters again. Day of Defeat and Medal of Honor were 2 of my best online gaming experiences. But fuck all this games as services shit. I used to play games for months and years because they were good. Now it's grind for the sake of grind. Back to Day of Infamy.

Destiny 2 has a microtransaction problem

xYOSSARIANx

Games have cost $60 dollars in the US for years, no one wants to try selling a game for more. Yet wages, rent and other costs have gone up in those years. Loot crates and microtransations in full price games are there because of that $60 limit on what they can charge for a game.

The problem with RB4 was that it shipped with the worst setlist of any RB game, had features and content missing and they jacked the price from 150 to 250 for the band in a box. Even as a hardcore RB fan and having swapped console manufacturers so being in need of new instruments, I passed.

Torment: Tides of Numenera gets first significant performance patch

xYOSSARIANx

Sweet. Some way to go though, I waited until Pillars was 3.0 to play it. You've got to have a bit of patience with games like this, they all need updates, patches, tweaks and rebalances before they become the great games they are.

Owned it since early access and paid 35quid for it knowing that I wouldn't play it until it probably cost half of that. But I want studios like these guys, Obsidian, Larian et al to keep making great games, so I support them by buying their games at full RRP as early as possible. These guys aren't EA, Ubi or Activision.

Mass Effect 2 and the importance of character

xYOSSARIANx

I didn't enjoy ME2 first playthrough. The story to me was just filler, it didn't really move the Reaper threat forward. The entire game seemed to be about collecting companions, with a silly boss fight at the end. The combat was cover based wack-a-mole, with OP symbiotic combo attacks.

It was only on my second playthrough I appreciated how good the writing was and I enjoyed that playthrough much more. The original Mass Effects was not as technically a good game, but it is my favourite of all 3.

How to actually enjoy Mass Effect: Andromeda

It comes to something when EG runs a story telling us that if we want to enjoy a game, skip large parts of it. What a joke. How about I just don't buy it. Loved Bioware games since Baldurs Gate, Sad face.

Hopefully their Star Wars game will be a return to form, ie pre DA2 quality.

BioWare mulls Mass Effect Andromeda animation, character creator improvements

xYOSSARIANx

@ISeeEverything When I worked for EA they classified bugs as either A,B or C severity. A meant show stopper and the studio would either fix before release or day 1 update. B meant likely to cause major player dissatisfaction, but not enough to stop production and would be patched up. C meant minor bugs which if they got round to fixing then fine but if not, it wasn't supposed to really matter. However the CQC team did not have the authority to say this game cannot release, it was a senior management decision. QA + CQC always know about all the bugs, it just was not our decision to make as if it was fit to ship. The only time I ever saw EA that worried about anything was on 9/11 when we were testing Sub Command and it had a mission to kill Osama Bin Ladin in it, within 24 hours it was gone.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands review

xYOSSARIANx

@Stan546 The original Ghost Recons were open world in so much as the entire level loaded and you could approach the mission how you wanted. It was those awful GRAW games that introduced the scripted bollocks. I'm not a fan of Ubi open world games, but I used to love GR 1.

@sid-6581 Agreed, I got the game in early access a while ago, played for about 6 hours to see what it was like, then put it away and said to myself 'see you in a few patches'. Did the same for PoE, waited until 3.0 was out before starting.

Mass Effect Andromeda trailer reveals new alien baddie

xYOSSARIANx

Why couldn't they just let ME go, the trilogy was complete. They should have made a new IP. Is Bioware just an endless factory of ME DA and Star Wars (while EA have the exclusive licence) now. I used to get so excited about Bioware games, but not any more. The difference in my enthusiasm between this trailer and the original ME trailer couldn't be wider. Boring generic scifi shootbang game with poorly written romances is what ME has become. I is disappoint.

Final Fantasy 14 announces new expansion Stormblood

xYOSSARIANx

The only MMO I ever liked, admittedly I've only played a handful.

I remember deciding to be a cat girl archer. Joined the guild and was given a long lecture about how we only take or kill what we have to and we are there to help not to destroy really. We only pruned the mad or sick and it was all for the benefit of the forest creatures themselves.

On entering the forests I was greeted by the sight of about 200 people wailing on anything that moved. Every single creature was being attacked within half a second of spawning. Literally hundreds of people just destroying everything.

It was a massacre :-)

xYOSSARIANx

I quite fancy playing this, the only thing that puts me off getting the PS4 version is the community, I'm worried their wont be much of one, and you'll struggle to get full servers. I work till 10 so game from midnight till very late and player drop off can be an issue in niche games

I've got a 6700hq and a 960m so not sure the PC version is right for me, but think the console community is likely to be tiny.

Hope this is good, needs more marketing.
