They have 500 employees now, costing an expected 5 Million per month, or 60 million per year. They can finance the game with the money they earn, but barely.

It is after all the most ambitious, most complex game ever developed. By far.

While the Crash Mode was fun for a while, it was also kind of shit. Especially because you really couldn't play it as a party game competetively. Crash mode was vastly superior in the games that preceded it. Apart from the shitty Crash Mode the game was pretty stellar though.

Overwatch Review

ulix

2 years ago

Another Overwatch Review that doesn't mention Team Fortress 2, by far the game's biggest influence in terms of gameplay. The main differences, none of them part of the actual moment-to-moment gameplay:
* More characters
* Characters are more varied in their skills...
However, with all those additional weapons and items in TF2, I'm even not sure that's true... you could play Demoman as a grenade dude OR a melee dude for years now, and even these wildly different playstyles come in many different flavours depending on weapon selection.
* Ultimate Skills...
While Overwatch has these for all characters, Team Fortress had these for some characters for quite some time. The Medic could always ubercharge people, now he can give people higher crit chances and all kinds of things. Pyro has a weapon that when charged gives you 5 seconds of crits, with which you can easily kill 3-4 enemies in the right situations. Etc.

So yeah. It's Team Fortress 2.5, with a Blizzard skin.
And they do promise to give out every new hero for free, which is great. On the other hand finding weapons in TF2 is fun, even though it definitely takes to long and is to expensive to craft.

I'm not trying to hate, it looks amazing and I'll probably buy it next week or so. Just seems these MOBA-comparisons seem out of place, at least if you don't even mention Team Fortress 2.

No luck involved in this game whatsoever. Just bad decisions and lack of skill by you and your team-mates (and the other team).

If a ball goes in that you would not have expected to go in you might call it luck. I call it a bad opposing team with bad positioning, because noone was there to stop the ball (or was unable to because of a lack of skill).

The level layout in SS2 is a million times better than in Bioshock. At least it makes sense, and there's rooms and doors where there would be in a real space-ship... now compare that with Rapture, where the layout often didn't make a whiff of sense.

On a more serious note: this is awesome.
Music in Disney movies is always amazing, and this should prove amazing too, although I would have preferred the musical numbers to have at least some rudimentary interactivity (think Bioware conversation system).

I would never ever visit a musical unless someone was holding a gun to my head, but you miserable pricks need to acknowledge that this is Disney, and not Andrew Lloyd Webber, which makes it awesome instead of shit.

No, it doesn't. It includes 27. There may be 36 countries in Europe where Sony officially sells the PS3 (I'm guessing the additions to the 27 EU countries are: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland [soon an EU member], and whatever 6 countries of former Yugoslavia...), maybe Albania.

@darkmorgado

So you're saying that it's sensible to assume that the Citadel has a death rate AT LEAST twice as high ("thousands" = at least 2000... equalling a death rate of AT LEAST 56!) as AIDS- and crime-ridden African countries (highest today: Angola at 23.4)?

That would mean permanent State of Emergency, as crime and desease would be so rampant that NOONE would ever want to enter the Citadel, and also we would've heard of the situation by now.

Now Omega, that's another story. On Omega I can believe in a death rate as high as that.
11 0

ulix

6 years ago

@darkmorgado

"(Swaziland being one, with a death rate in 2009 of 30.83 people per 1000 capita)."

Per year, my friend, per year.
That would be about 1000 per day for 13 million people. All right, but not "far higher", as you claim.

And that wouldn't even constitute a 1% deat rate PER DAY, but a .01% deat rate PER DAY.

(Swaziland has a death rate of 15 per year - out of 1000 - by 2011, according to the world factbook)

To expect a scientifically advanced society like the one on the citadel (where some species like Asari live hundreds of years) to have a similar death-rate is ludicrous.

It would be more sensible to look at demographically (relatively) stable, highly developed countries for comparison.

Let's take France: 8.7 - which would mean, if France had 13 million people, around 300 deaths per day.
