@kosmic2561 It is called free press. Journalists can write whatever they want, they may leave their personal thoughts in or out and everything in between and noone can tell them not to.
And, often overlooked, every cittizen withour limitation is entitled to call him or herself a journalist and found whatever left- or rightwing website, magazine or news channel.
Sharing your personal thoughts is not a bug, itīs a feature.

@Antidope I am hoping for a no-build-mode as well, but it would mean, that the map needed to be changed. One thing is people getting stuck in the basement of smashed buildings. That might not be such a big problem, you could argue, that it is just bad luck. Donīt get stuck in a hole or you get killed by the storm.
The bigger problem are some of the mountain tops that then you could only reach by parachuting. You could hide up there without any possibility of being hit.

Thank you so much for that list. There are some entries I had not even heard of, will definitely try them.
I miss Arkham VR though. The only thing I disliked about it, was that of all games it takes the cake in terms of too little content. Not because it was top of the list in shortness, but because it was so polished it made you want more of the same like no other game.

@fabio78 I totally agree. There is so much nostalgia for these gmaes involved. I played the old titles at the time and I can remember so many people from my generation absolutely hating them for putting any focus on the prequels.
People calling for the vehicle mechanics of the old games have no idea of how broken these games could feel at times.
EA really put me off with the loot chest thing and i havenīt even touched Battlefront 2 but the the first part for all its flaws was the Star Wars game I had been waiting for for over 30 years.

@Diji1 I must say though, that - be it for the cartoonish look or not - that Epic right now is two steps ahead in the way of world buildung.
All the areas of the map have a unique feel to them, a sense of place. It is not that they would not reuse assets, but usually you can tell just by looking at the surroundings where on the map you are.
Maybe I just have not played enough PUBG - around 12 hours or so - but I could never tell one village from another without bringing up the map.

I have a lot of sympathy for Bluehole for perfecting the core game design, but letīs be honest: If Fortnite wasnīt there yet, people probably would be calling for a skilled developer to pick up the concept and make a decent game out of it. PUBG just keeps feeling like a mod for a little too long now...

Where do downloadable games go when they die?

tiddex

In 2012 two friends and myself published a game for iOS and android called "Walt The Frog?!"
It was not even close to being a success, but the sheer accomplishment of releasing a game and seeing it out there was something we were a little proud of. As we had to shut down our little studio and noone was there to pay the annual developer fee - not to mention keeping the game updated to run on the latest OS - the game vanished from the appstore for good. Nothing to show my grand kids...
If you want to give it a try on android though... I think there are some pirated versions circulating the web - since day one btw

@sarkster I have played both Driveclub and GTS in VR and I must say that while drive club looks poor even for a PSVR-version - maybe because the original looks so extraordinarily polished - GT just hits the spot where you do notice the difference, but donīt really care.
I would be fine with Sony getting rid of their policy to not allow more features on PS4 Pro. They sure could add a few more cars to that mode.

Really looking forward to this. I am curious how long I will be able to play until nausea.

@Weezer I must say though, that I gave up on rating games permanently on the sickness-scale. Owning PSVR from practically day one, my experience is, that it does change a lot from day to day, maybe depending on what you have eaten or if you are tired or hungover or whatever.
Arkham VR for example: I played that one for almost 5 hours straight on my first playthrough with no side effects whatsoever and had to quit it a week later after 25 minutes.
Anyways: November has been a good month for PSVR with Sony giving away Until Dawn for free and VR support for GT Sport.

Destiny 2 review

tiddex

@sp1der1976 This time around the power of your weapons is also accounted for. Change to a gun with more punch and your power level rises. In D1 only armour would be considered

edit: oh and to give my 5 cents: Eventhough I abandoned Destiny over the grind after the second exansion - there was just so much that I loved about the game and so much more that could have been in it if Bungie at the time had been more confident about there vision. To there defense: imho Destiny 1 has more been a definition of a genre than just another shooter.
I am already having fun with Destiny 2 and it has so much more of all I loved about part 1.
I can understand the feeling, that it could have gone further, but what this series needed, was a reassuring, a consolidation of some kind to have a common ground that it can start from and hopefully fly someday.
Also lets not forget: it is one of the biggest productions in the industry and we saw what happened with D1 when you try to turn the ship around on the last few meters. They might follow a conservative path here, but that is exactly what the series needed at this point.

Is there a "right" or "wrong" way to play PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds?

tiddex

@Devil_N You are absolutely right, when I say it became "famous" I did not try to imply it was invented then. As I said, for me CS marks the point when people started to outright hate campers. In Doom, Quake or Duke Nukem we would just belittle them, in the ways of "Aww, look. He tried it again" In these times all we would look at was the sheer number of kills, not even K/D ratio. So the campers where annoying but at the same time they paid for it on the leader boards.

tiddex

The term "camper", at least how I remember it, first became famous when vanilla Counter Strike became popular. Before CS, multiplayer mostly meant free for all deathmatch, where camping would not give you any advantage at all, besides the tactical implications of hiding in a closet. Also noone would care about a camper in a free for all round, he might have annoyed you when he killed you but he did not have any effect on the other players apart from the anger you might feel about someone who just outsmarted you by sitting in a corner.
But with CS one player could A) - very rarely - turn a match around and B) - always - have everyone waiting for the next round until he was found. THAT is the true origin of the disgust towards the camper - they would have everyone being bored to death in spectator mode while they sat behind a crate on de_dust.

After that the camper was established in the mainstream as someone who not only chooses the most cowardlike strategy but also breaks the game for the sake of his own odd playstyle. And in consequence any multiplayer game that did not actively counter camping was consindered ill-balanced or even broken. Even if camping was nothing but an ill-fated strategy that did not give you any advantage whatsoever.

The point I am trying to make: while in Counter Strike or any other round based game that lets you wait spectating, the camper is a game breaker, this is hardly the case here. When you are dead in PUBG, you are dead and it makes no difference if you have been taken out by a rushing CoD veteran with godlike reflexes or met your destiny in a bathroom encounter - you are free to rejoin the next match instantly. The only people to wait for the camper to leave its hideout are those that are still in the game and they have every option to deal with him.

Also if you really wanted to argue that camping should be countered by game design, then the blue circle is probably the best way to get people moving that I can think of. To say that it would prevent people from getting into firefights because you lose time to enter the safe zone is a bit far fetched imo.

We may not like it and camping might be the cowardīs way, but it is a viable strategy as long as you do not force everyone to watch you doing it.
