If you're interested in seeing Orange spikes. Then sure the first game is better. If you're interested in that Orange spike actually meaning you've found a cool gun and it being a special event, then the 2nd is better. The only really good thing about the Legendarys in the first game is ammo regen. A decent Double Anarchy and a Masher outclass most of the legendarys in the first game. The only one it's really useful to have is the Pestilant Defiler, for Crimson Lance.

Launchers are pretty lame in BL1. Snipers tend to be redundant if you've got either a Revolver with a decent sight, or a burst fire Assault Rifle. The randomness of the gun generation can really rankle at times. Decent Snipers spawning with X1 sights, 2 shot revolvers, low accuracy Shotguns, spawning with X4.8 sights.

Not that BL2 doesn't have it's faults, DOT is too weak. The scaling means you end up binning cool guns too quickly.

But both are still great games and tweaking is all that is needed to improve.

"I wonder how come over the millennia books have been about, we've never heard this crap from authors? I mean do you hearing them bitching about libraries? Or about closing down second hand bookstores? Fark, these greedy prick game publishers make me sick. And I'll never go digital only on games, until I'm literally forced. "

Firstly, books haven't been around for millenia, the printing press is less than 600 years old, before that all copies were typically hand written. Books typically take 1 person to write, so only one person to financially support and have a significantly longer shelf life.

"I've never posted on a games site anywhere before, but I felt compelled to respond to this. So the companies that produce and publish games have been complaining that they are losing sales due to the secondhand business, and they apparently feel that they are entitled to compensation every time a game sold changes hands. Why? What is so special about games? Should I mail Honda a check for their fair share of the proceeds after I sell my car? Nope, because Honda has already made their money. If I buy a taco from Taco Bell, and then decide to sell it to my friend because he's really hungry, should I stroll into the restaurant, ask for the manager and hand him $0.69? Of course not. Once I purchase something, whether it's a car, a taco or a game, it is my property and I should be able to do with it as I please. Is this not obvious? Is this not intuitive? "

Actually most car manufacturers make the lion's share of their profits from manufacturing spares and later licensing the manufacture of spares to 3rd party manufacturers. So Honda continue to make money from whoever you sell your car to.

Hope this takes off. Once this becomes the norm and people become aware, shops selling pre-pubed will have to factor this into their selling price, so the customer won't pay more. It'll mean devs can claw back some money from 2nd hand sales.

Looks a bit like Section 8, which was shite. But Warhawk was so good, I'm hoping they managed to keep the good ideas of Section 8 and lose the crumby gameplay. Hope the maps aren't too big, like the DLC ones were, as I like to play as a foot soldier, rather than use vehicles all the time.

UK shops begin taking 3DS pre-orders

themanfromdelmonte

I think everyone wanting one for less than £200 is in for a shock. If the rumours of a $300 US price are true, that'll translate to 300 euros (they never seem to take exchange rates into account with this conversion), which is what the UK price will be based on, this translates to £250.

The comparisons with previous release prices aren't really relevant as the £,$ and euro have weakened significantly since the Credit Crunch and the Yen has strengthened.

If your TV is calibrated correctly the PS3 won't look washed out, so my suggestion would be buy yourself a calibration blu ray and calibrate you tv correctly.

There's a THX calibration utility on the Star Wars DVDs, hidden away in the languages menu iirc. If you've already got these or can borrow them, that'll save you some cash.

@drxym
I'm aware of how the screen tech works, you make it sound so simple. But the quality of the effect is entirely dependent on the quality of the screen and they are still significantly more expensive than a standard LCD screen. But I wouldn't be surprised if your $100 estimation is somewhere in the ball-park. With a profit for Nintendo, distributors and retailers mark up, plus taxes. I think that would put it in the $300, 300eu, £260 bracket anyway.

It's always been on the cards that 3DS was going to be £250+ with the price of the 3D scrrens still so high. I really can't see this affecting the long term success of the system, by April these will be going for £500+ on ebay. The DS is a well established brand among the general public and compared to the alternatives for 3D gaming, it's a relatively cheap way in.

But, in relation to some peoples concerns about software prices increasing to. I'd really hope this isn't the case and think Nintendo would be ill advised to go above the established £30 rrp threshold.

I suppose you can also explain why sea levels have fallen and ice sheets have expanded during every period of global cooling that we can account for in the Quarternary, and why, conversely, sea levels have risen as ice sheets have retreated during every period of global warming in the Quarternary period? What's that, you can't?

I voted Wii. People complain about lack of hardcore games on Wii & when given an opportunity to change that, vote against it.

On PS3/360 it'll be joining an already healthy roster of FPS and will be dismissed by some because of it's art style.

On Wii it'll be a chance for Free Radical to refine Wiimote FPS controls. Online play would still be good, I don't really have any problems with Mazza Kart (except last lap monster power up robberies).

I personally think it's already in development for Wii and they're doing this poll to try and back up their reasons for developing it on that format.
