£35 for Wolfenstein 2.... Remember just 5 years ago when most PC games were £18 because there are no console license fees to pay? Did game companies just get greedy and decide to match console prices anyway?

Watch Dogs 2 patch makes "Pull over now!" policewoman chill out

stoopidgreg

Have they fixed the other game breaking bugs like freezes, missions not ending and falling through the world? This is the buggiest game I've played for a while (aside from NMS of course).

For one mission I was hidden on a rooftop hacking the objective, completed that, then the game crashed... Loaded it up again but it placed me at the "default" checkpoint for the mission, which was on the ground in amongst all the damn security rather than on the roof.. after several deaths I finally download the data and make an escape, except I'm driving around for about 10 minutes totally out of sight of the police, yet they're still chasing me. Literally got in a never-ending police chase, to the point where I had to restart the whole mission again.

Oculus Rift costs £500

stoopidgreg

Oculus must think their headset is considerably better than the competition, as the Vive and PS VR will likely be around the £300 mark, so there'd be no good reason to get an Oculus. Unless they have software you can ONLY get on the Rift - which goes against the whole open format that Carmack and Luckey talked about as a prerequisite to VR taking off.

The Digital Foundry 2016 graphics card upgrade guide

stoopidgreg

People saying now is a bad time to upgrade - do you really think once the new chips come out this year they will suddenly be way better bang for buck? Hell no, nVidia and AMD set their prices based on performance, and the performance per buck slowly increases over time at a pretty standard rate.

Cities: Skylines review

@null You can use dual carriageways but make sure you only cross them with one way roads and roundabouts so you eliminate traffic lights.
1 0

stoopidgreg

What a poor review - his city has NO roundabouts and only a single interchange! So no wonder he had so many traffic jams. Somehow this review passed the EG editor? Amazing. To write a game down simply because the reviewer doesn't understand how to play and then blames the engine, that's pretty disrespectful to the developer.

BioWare outlines big Dragon Age: Inquisition patch due out today

stoopidgreg

Patch has not fixed the relentless crashing on my system. It's actually made it worse, as it's now overheating my graphics card to the point where the warning tone sounds - and it never once did that previously. Absolute fucktards at Bioware pushing out a half-baked PC port with tacked on controls, missing dialogue and unstable code.
2 1

stoopidgreg

Downloading the patch from Origin now - roughly 350 mb. This had better fix the constant crashes I've been experiencing. It's almost unplayable. Sometimes it's every few minutes, sometimes after an hour. I have a quad core Intel 2500k, GTX 760 and Windows 8.1 so not exactly an exotic setup... Do they not have QA at Bioware/EA?

[Update] Still crashes... Shit.
