Pandemic review

I love this game. For me it is head and shouders above Forbidden island, and the theme shines through. I have played it with 2 and 3 players and enjoyed it equally. Generally more players is fun, but that's because being around more people you like is fun, rather than the mechanics on offer here.

What a pity that people seem to want to knock the enthusiasm in Quinn's reviews. It seems evident to me that he is writing these with the remit being to get across the point of tabletop gaming to a new audience, rather than a cold objective analysis of the game's merits. I think even if you are after the latter, this is a hobby that requires you to put in a bit more independant research to see that the game is right for you compared to video games, almost every game's genre is unique.

UK tabloids single out Call of Duty, Dynasty Warriors in coverage of Sandy Hook school massacre

Good article, factual unbiased reporting that points out the lack of those facets in The Sun.

I also like that it didn't evolve into a defence of violence in video games; firstly because it is exactly that kind of knee-jerk response that means game journalism is generally ignored by the media at large, and secondly because I hope the team here realises that debate is a lot more complex than a simple piece which highlights the flaws of The Sun can accomplish.

Why didn't they just churn out more of the same? I love this franchise, it's why I bought a PS3. I blame Ellie, she's more powerful than she knows.

My favourite gaming franchise, thanks for the retrospective (although I'm sure this only came out a short while ago...)

For me has always beaten J&D hands down; better humour, better smashing, and just so much joy to be had by retreading old levels looking for secrets with an overpowered arsenal.

I add my voice to everyones upset about the next one specialising on MP. Boo.

Just to make my misery clear; I have guitar hero world tour for the PS3 (a gift from my wonderful wife), which I don't play much because I'm not fussed about the music with it. There is no way I will have access to this DLC is there.

I love this series, but was a little underwhelmed by quest for booty. By virtue of it being shorter it changed it substantially in feel and content. Is this a full game or another filler? (I know I should know this but I don't usually follow hype).

"My point is however immersive the story/music and so on are; if there is texture pop-in and tearing, it spoils what good the story is doing, it takes me out of the game."

Then we can agree to disagree. I suspend my disbelief actively in almost all media to try and avoid such problems and I manage quite well with those 2 issues.

speedofthepuma

@JMM. My point is it is in no way crucial. We assume because it is part of the medium that graphical glitches are ruinous. They are not.

@Nattattack:

My point is one could argue immersion will not be affected by tearing as long as the narrative is strong enough. Yours is?
