@sonicyoda not everything gets an award. If it's truly pony it gets the "avoid", if its great or excellent then it gets those markers and if it gets nothing then it's in-between.

Minecraft PS3 worlds will transfer to PS4, possibly Vita

murphy1978

@HappySpaceInvader not to mention that there are texture packs available with a much cleaner look which negate some of the blocky/retro appearance.

I was incredibly sceptical of Minecraft until I actually played it extensively, when it launched in the 360. It's now my most anticipated Vita title. The pocket edition has sold over 21m units and that is a heavily compromised version, a Vita version done and marketed well is going to shift a few Vita systems. Especially if there is some sort of cross buy/save or oven play.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted vs. PlayStation Vita

murphy1978

Great piece and a great title, a wonderful achievement and like we said on my site at the time, an example of what can be put on the system.

However, what was the point of putting themselves through everything in giving the console version to then not give the DLC?

Vita owners will buy it. it's an even bigger kick in the teeth when it's even being considred for the Wii U.

But looking forward to seeing whatever this years NFS will be on the Vita too.

That's what I tweeted Jens when Playfront broke this story in january, but alas no reply.

So quite old news I suppose. :)

Although I think that a "proper" Vita Minecraft would be a surefire system seller.

A year and a half after its announcement, BioShock Vita is still not in development

murphy1978

@rtk79 indeed. I thought that game companies got a budget and worked within these paramenters and the money was recouped through sales...

But Sony have set a precedent with whatever backhanders happened with Declassified (since Activision said it was nothing to do with them) and many other companies would now expect similar treatment.

My review for the Vita version if anyone is interested. It's pretty awesome, and kind of echoes what EG says, but specifically for the Vita version. I can also take questions you may have on it. :)

It has taken a bit of a hit visually, but is still awesome and impressive. This showcases what the Vita can do. Over to you, other devs.

This game deserves to sell well.

Persona 4: Golden release date set for November in NA, spring in EU

murphy1978

@Lord_Gremlin hey, I'm not judging, do as you please, as is noted, it is region free after all.

All I'm saying is, people shouldn't complain if something isn't localised, as this kind of thing affects that too.
0 0

murphy1978

@Lord_Gremlin

The Vita may be region free, but the PSN accounts aren't. Unless you have a same region PSN account, good luck with the DLC...

Importing is as easy as anything else online, just a little more lengthy in delivery.

All I'm saying is when we don't get localised versions of some games because of poor sales, all due to people just importing, we only have ourselves to blame.
4 1

murphy1978

@Jordyce granted it probably won't be on a massive scale, and the localisation is too long, but importing it, when it is going to come will only damage future situations like this, because of poor sales.

We complain that things like this, and Ragnorok don't come to Europe, but if it doesn't sell well enough in our region, then we only have ourselves to blame when the next version isn't published here...

UK chart: Borderlands 2 edges top spot

murphy1978

@dogmanstaruk As poor as it is looking right now, I'd say that Black Ops Declassified will hit the top ten all formats, as will Assasin's Creed Liberation.

Many other games coming are multiformat, so the Vita will be listed on that too.

murphy1978

Considering the relatively small Vita base in the UK, that is an outstanding chart placement for LBP Vita.

Let's hope that this is that start of things to come...

Digital Foundry goes hands-on with the new super-slim PS3

murphy1978

@Lemming81 I've got no doubt that the rationale is a cheaper, entry level point to PS3 and the Blu Ray/ Multimedia capabilities, in keeping with the Xbox 360 4GB, or the cheaper one that will be Stateside.

But if the exisitng slims are going to be discontinued, it's pretty retarded as a stand-alone, and we seem to be the only market getting it.

The Americans and Japanese aren't getting the 12GB, they seem to be getting a 250 GB instead.
1 0

murphy1978

@Lemming81 I did think that, but as a PS3, with some compulsory installs, a HDD would ultimately be needed, and I'm sure the 12GB, plus a HDD will not be that cost effective.
2 1

murphy1978

The 12Gb model seems obselete before release, especially if the price points are putting it on a par with existing 160GB Slim v1 units.

I was waiting for this announcement, but seems that I may be better off trying to get a Slim v1 SKU rather than this. Don't really want/need a 500GB model, or really 320...

@repeater EA are sending me a copy next week, but not in time for release. There is very little information on the Vita version, but if there are no reviews for it, at least by the time the UK/EU release is here, we'll have had 3 days of feedback from the US.

@Bennyjj81 I was refering to the EG review, as was the chap who asked the question. I'm sure it is worthy of the 85+ MC score. If you look at my posts around here you'll see that I'm quite an advocate of 7/8 are decent scores brigade.

I haven't played this years version, so can't really say myself if it is good or not. I did play the last version on the Vita, and it could have been better.

F1 2012 review

murphy1978

@Jay-ITFC

March then. Or do an update like EA do after a transfer window. it would just make more sense to release this at the start of an F1 season, not the end, that's all I'm saying.

especially since, although out first, this will be vying for the same shelf space as NFS, Sonic racing 2, LBP Karting (on PS3) WRC 3 and so on, at the same time of year. All different genres of racing, but out at the same time. if it were released at the start of an F1 season, in its own space away from other racers, you know, they might sell more...
3 0

murphy1978

I do wonder why this is released near the end of the F1 season...would it hurt to release it in February? You'd avoid some of the games that people are more likely to buy this side of Christmas too. Especially since there are other racers...

On a seperate note, where is the LBP Vita review? Other EG's have there's up...

GAME Oxford Street closing down

murphy1978

Nice to see they learned their lessons.

Wait a minute...

Seriously, nothing has changed from six months ago, except EA give them games now. Still peddling pre-owned at silly prices, still massively overcharging compared to other high street, let alone the web, and seemingly still trying to secure the exclusive pre-order deals that would have cost them a pretty penny.

And still having (generally, apologies to those that are good at their job)idiots working for them that know fuck all about games.
