if ultra HD resolution uses four times as many pixels as standard 1080p, why not make the graphics hardware in the new box four times more powerful than the existing base console
The flaw in that logic is that the base console frequently struggles to reach 1080p.

@drawfull They have some fancy tech to double framerate, so a game can output at 60 and be doubled to 120. It's apparently not as good as genuine 120fps, but a good compromise.

A game can even output at 45 and be doubled to 90 I believe.

Yes, agree with a couple of comments here - after playing Infamous, I found getting around in AC2 slow and fiddly in comparison. Infamous made it much easier and smoother to cover a huge amount of ground quickly, especially on the rooftops.
