R-Type Final retrospective

Brings into focus just how much the shooter genre has shrunk and narrowed over the years. These days, "bullet hell" is the only game in town. Now, that's not to say there aren't some very good bullet hell games out there (I sank way too many hours into Deathsmiles on the 360), but it's not great that it is all there is. Was much better when you had the more methodical offense-oriented Japanese shmups like R-Type around, as well as the Western examples like Tyrian. |

Rocksmith 2014 out in October, announced by Jerry Cantrell
| @FuzzyDuck Love the first game. Still play it today (tons of songs with lots of DLC). Agree that the dynamic difficulty was horrid, but you can just turn everything up in riff repeater which is what I do. It does tell you the chords and it's easy to figure the notes once you learn the fretboard (if that's your thing). Scale runner is awesome and I learned/practiced lots of scales that way. Can't wait to see what this next game brings to the table. Hopefully no loading times with 8 gigs of RAM :) |
