Sure, its wrong what Nintendo are doing, but its a bit ironic all these ethical-type comments, coming from people who probably own a slave laboured TV made in China and a pair of bills that were probably made in Bangledesh.

Board Games Are Back

marccarran

Are they really coming back?

Monopoly has been re-hashed in all kinds of different versions,
I'm sure one of them was were you could have your Bank on a card, instead of real Monopoly notes...

Thats taking the "physical side" of counting and giving the cash out, is that part of the expirience? You be teh judge!

I'm sure there's somewhere inbetween that could strike a balance... I hated "Fustration" the game were you couldn't roll the dice, even though theres no method to rolling a dice, its all part of the expirience :)

Grand Theft Auto 3 PlayStation 3 release date delayed

I'm sure Rockstar are planning a HD version, but its about when they are going to release it... not until they've pulled enough money from the straight port, I guess.
A HD collection in 2015 maybe?

Not saying Sony or Nintendo should be quaking in their boots, but its not that bad, is it? A few tweaks, a bit of quality control and a better battery life, and it would be a good product.

Super-slim PS3 announcement to miss Gamescom - report

marccarran

16GB won't be a waste, some peeps are forgetting that not everyone is the hardcore gamer, and not everyone is buying a PS3 for Grand Tourismo, or a similar game.

I consider myself a "casual gamer". I love football, so yeah, I'd play FIFA/PES,
I don't mind fighting games, and quite like a good multi-player (like Worms, etc).

At 99, I could buy FIFA, WWE 13 and download Worms Revolution and I see the console as good value for money.

With lots of people downloading and streaming films, no ones's too bothered about it being a good Blu-Ray player. Not much of a valid point for someone wanting to buy one these days, but if your going to play at least 2 games costing around 30-40, then its worth getting.

If people want old PS1 and PS2 classics, then just sell them a Fiver a download, and a Tenner for a HD remake.

Keep it simple, everyones happy.

A new PS3 model in the works - report

marccarran

I think some people are going waaaaaaaaaaay over the top.

The re-design is for the poorer markets, and the less casual market.

In addition to this, the lower price will make the PS3 more attractive to new customers.

The PS3 does still have a few years of life into it. For someone who can't justify paying alot of money for a console for 1 or 2 games, this is perfect for them.

Documents appear to show PS3 Super Slim

marccarran

Not everyone has a PS3, not everyone is looking forward to the PS4 and some younger people will be buying their first Playstation, so this move helps squeeze out as much profit as possible, while carrying on the Playstation life cycle. All makes sense.

A used console can cost between 100-150, still alot of money at one time to a few people. If the new ones are more efficient and lack some of the errors of the current gen, it would give a reason for someone to replace their old one.

The only PS3 game, I would bother playing, would be FIFA.

Nintendo 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro confirmed

Yes, its a douche move by Ninty, but their excuse is.
A. Not all games require both sticks.
B. Not all future games will require both sticks.
C. Buy the prep or quit moaning like a bitch, I'm sure Nintendo aren't arsed by these comments.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Preview: Pass Master

Biggest problem with PES is the edit mode. Now I know having official sponsorships doesn't make a difference to gameplay, but when there's a huge hard drive and a big editing community, it kind of seems like its a waste when its not used to its full potential.

I've played patched PC versions in the past, sure its not going to look as good as that. but it made a helluva difference.

The Mega Drive got one over the NES, and Nintendo just did the job proper with the SNES.

Those extra buttons, that extra power, that longer wait and those killer games were all worth it

GAME "has two weeks to turn its fortunes around"

@UKBoy Hmm, I'm not so sure, nevertheless, its interesting to what will happen next.

I just think disc-less consoles would increase the possibility of more independent developers and alot more competition.

I was expecting this to happen eventually, but this was far too soon!

With Hard Drives and Memory Cards falling down in price, who needs Blu-Ray? Who needs Dual Layer, who even needs a Disc?

Surely the costs of Games will drop in price as games become available online through download services. Perhaps we may see more indie developers and the developers will have to do alot more to convince us to hand over our cash.

Volition dev: next Xbox not playing pre-owned games would be "fantastic"

marccarran

I understand their point. Piracy obviously doesn't help, but at the same time, they can't expect us to pay full price for games if this is going to happen.

At the moment, our 40-60 spent on a game often gives us the option to get some money back by trading in or the option to lend/swop/sell to a friend.

With us no longer having this option, we'll scratch their back, if they scratch ours. They will have to look into their options of bringing the cost down.

I suppose one interesting look would be breaking up the game price vs game content structure.
