| I started playing Andromeda about a month ago but haven't touched it in a couple of weeks. Struggling to find the motivation to start it up again as i was just bored by it. 20 odd hours in and it just hasn't hooked me at all. |

King's Bounty 2: growing pains mar an otherwise encouraging return
Following Mass Effect Legendary Edition, fans are reappraising Mass Effect Andromeda

King's Bounty is back and transformed for a new era
|
It does seem to have eschewewd the quirkiness of the previous titles where I married a zombie but then got rid of her and married a frog instead. Also concerned about the max number of units being six? The game doesn't seem like a King's Bounty game to me. They've changed everything but the name. I'll definitely keep an eye on this as I love the previous games but I am apprehensive. |

@TagRed "If the 'Recommended' and 'Essential' are actually more proxies for 'here's a weird game we want to flag to you because it's actually quite good" That's not what he was saying. |

Plotting a course: how Mass Effect 3 brought the trilogy to a close
|
@Standout I thought the last 10 minutes was slightly disappointing (the Star Child bit) but had an absolute blast up to that point. Loved it. Not as good as ME2 but that's one of my favourite games of all time anyway. A lot of the criticisms are really overblown IMO. |

NBA star banned from Twitch and dropped by sponsors after use of antisemitic slur while playing Call of Duty: Warzone
| @Umang I'm 46 and didn't know what it meant. Heard it a couple of times online and honestly thought it just meant noob. That being said, i'm in the UK where I don't think it's a very widely used term. Seems to be different in the US. |

@IndigoAK "no self-respecting businessperson is going to say no to that much money just because it means caving to the whims of a totalitarian regime. " Other way round. You leave your self respect along with your ethics behind when you get into bed with a totalitarian regime. |

Empire of Sin review - intoxicating but overwhelming
| @Syrette It's not just cosmetic stuff. They're hiving off missions to sell as pre-order bonuses. There's no good justification for that. |

"The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, four recruitable gangsters, the Golden Weapon Set (featuring three exclusive weapon skins plus "Romero" gun sound effects), and the Curb Stomp Execution animation. In addition to all that, a Premium Edition grants access to a pair of post-launch expansions and the "stylish" Al Capone's Fur Coat costume. Lastly, those that pre-order the game on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, or PC will get the The Good Son Pack, featuring an exclusive in-game mission - in which Cyril Mcrae attempts to reconnect with his estranged father - and a recruitable gangster." Wish they hadn't done this crap. I'll be waiting until there's a GOTY edition somewhere down the line then. |

Early impressions of the XIII remake are not good
| I bought it about 15 years ago on PC but never finished it. If I remember right it didn't have quicksaves which put me off. That's one change I'd actually be in favour of. |

@LCNights I'm a little worried about the next Elder Scrolls though. Isn't it very hard / nigh impossible to mod games on Gamepass? The alternative is to get it on Steam where they'll charge the Earth for it. |

Titanfall battle royale Apex Legends hits 10 million player milestone in just 72 hours
|
@jonbwfc I'm one that's going to hold off on Anthem because of Apex. I just don't have the time to play both so one of them has to miss out. I'm sure there are plenty like me whose gaming time is limited so have to make a choice. It's why I find it odd that they've released the free game before the paid one. Not sure where the advantage is there at all. |

Why I don't understand YouTube: A middle-aged woman writes
| I'm 43 and watch a few let's plays now and again. For instance I'm watching one of Tropico 5 by someone called Skye Storme at the moment and since I've never played a Tropico game I've found it helpful to watch a few videos to understand just what the hell I'm supposed to be doing rather than going in blind, not having a clue how to play and just getting overwhelmed. |

The Steam Summer Sale 2017 begins tomorrow
|
I've got £9 in steam credit already plus that extra fiver from Paypal so I might pick a few things up. Looking at any or all of Renowned Explorers, Subnautica, Brigador and Banner Saga 2. To be honest though, I've got games from sales from years back I've never played but would still quite like to, so I don't mind waiting to be honest. The discounts often aren't as deep as they used to be so I find it much easier to hold off from buying these days. |

Mass Effect: Andromeda review
|
How the mighty have fallen. Bioware used to be the market leaders in RPG's. Now they seem to be staffed by people who hate RPG's and just want to make action games instead. Everything from the direction this game has taken to the bugs and UI issues (can you really not compare a new weapon's stats with the one you have equipped? That's been standard in RPG's for years! Did they just forget to implement it?) has convinced me to wait until it's dirt cheap to buy it. It just sounds like they've only put the bare minimum of effort into it. |
