Funnily enough I’ve just invested in a Xbox series S just have GPU, think it’s a brilliant idea, £10 a month plus COD and FIFA is all most customers would need for a years gaming, don’t see what the problem is, but there you go? Used to spend at least £50 a month on physical games, plus online sub, seems a huge saving to me...? |

| @ghostof82 completely agree, even Halo wasn’t anywhere near ready and the world isn’t in the best of places at the moment, should have left till next year, it’s generally been one of the most rubbish next gen launches I’ve seen, still I guess it’ll pick up next year. |

@ghostof82 I know what you mean, it’s just all bad news at the moment, not just 2077. Add the damp squid of a next gen launch that no one can buy, I find general apathy to most gaming seems to be setting in. Maybe the pandemic is to blame, who knows, it’s just all rather miserable. Roll on 2021! |

@swedishfish I’ve always looked at cyberpunk as a vision of the future if we don’t get off this planet, the complete opposite to the utopia of, say, Star Trek. Thrillers if you like, set in the near future where interstellar travel/contact is still a way off. Most of its pretty grim 🤔 |

DICE to move on from Battlefield 5 after summer update
| @Schiehallion fair point about the content and tbh I wasn’t talking about peeps on here, all seem quite reasonable (usually!) but the general gaming community that constantly moan about things such as no content, it’s rife elsewhere and I’ve noticed it more with friends and my kids.. the internet is so negative about gaming lately, most of it regarding online titles, yet everyone carries on playing the titles they seem to have issues with. BF5 is a very good example of this, I, like thousands of others have played this quite a lot and to me, it doesn’t seem much different from the rest of the series, except they’ve been slow in releasing free stuff. Now I have played some rubbish games in my time, BF5 is nowhere near a rubbish game, but it’s community seem to be hell bent on wrecking the game, constantly moaning about it, it’s the same with COD, Fifa, Gears etc... I find it all quite baffling |

| @Schiehallion it’s my whole point, players nowadays carry on playing these games but constantly moan about them, I’m talking about social media, check out anything posted by developers and see the bile directed at them by players, it’s unbelievable. We have a generation of players who (probably) don’t know how much damage they do to their favourite games, I hear it constantly from my own kids how terrible say, Fifa is nowadays but buy it every year for example instead of moving onto say, PES.. I just don’t understand it, causes lots of discussions at home! Also this whole “I bought a game, I want free content forever!!!” thing.. where did that come from? You can’t seriously expect developers to live up to that, surely? 🤔 |

| Battlefield 5 killed by Battlefield 5 players? So much bloody moaning from entitled players.. Not suprised Dice chucked the towel in, I’ve played it, really enjoyed it.. but bloody hell, read some of the players comments on this game and you wonder why it didn’t sell? It’s an occurring theme with modern gaming, players continue playing games they hate, whether it’s COD, FIFA, Battlefield but they carry on playing! Moaning all over social media, quietly killing the game they can’t stop playing.. Everyone moaned about paid map packs etc, then when it’s free content, they moan it’s not enough.. jeeeeeeesus!! Just play it or move on, life’s too short ffs 🙄 |

In Theory: Which PS4 games could benefit most from PlayStation 5 back compat?
| To be honest I’m just looking at the new games for the new console. This generation has been fantastic but it’s been long, when I eventually grab a ps5 (or XboxSeriesX) it’ll be for new games only.. massive backlog has plagued me this gen! I’ve about 8-9 games to play on base PS4 before I jump next gen, and that’s after whittling down tons of backlog chaff.. New Console, new start 🤔 |

We got burned (as a family I guess) by the FIFA Ultimate team pay to win scheme, daft kid blew all his wages on it and we had bail him out, was a bad time, but lesson learned and all in the past. However it opened our eyes and made us seriously doubt our hobby (we all play games) and the direction it's taken. Sorry if I sounded like I was ranting about this, it just brings up the bile when I hear of these practices. @Sekuiya your right you should be able to ignore the loot crates, I've never bought one and never will.. However some people are vulnerable and it's this group that matter too. I do have to keep reminding myself its not all companies that follow this road for every Activision or EA there's a Sony or Nintendo and they seem to be doing fine just releasing bloody awesome games with none of this crap in them. :) So far... |

@Sekuiya but what do the Loot boxes actually give us? Why are they there? There is no other reason apart from getting people hooked, it's pretty damn nasty.. You know if there was absolutely no way to spent real world money on these things then we wouldn't be talking about this, but that's not the case. It's clearly a gambling system. It's not needed. It will eventually harm our hobby. And it's not just kids, they (apparently) don't play COD but they do play Star Wars and FIFA |

@SpaceMonkey77 but do they really need that much money to make more games aren't sales and expansion packs enough? Look at Bestheda and Ubisoft (maybe) and most other single player devs, they obviously don't need to do this. I'm no expert in the profitability of video games nowadays but seeing how big the industry is I can't believe EA and Activision need more money? (I maybe totally wrong mind!) Expansion packs, sure no problem, they expand the game and keep it fresh, the rest? No no one needs it, it's become a blight... just make games dev types! ;) |

We have teenagers I can relate to everything in these articles, I've been gaming for 30 odd years and have always championed it. However with the kids, I've witnessed everything from raging to serious money squandering on shit like this, luckily we've managed to put a stop to most of it, the raging still continues (fuck you Fifa) but the "gambling " has thankfully stopped. Loot boxes, Ultimate Team, preorders, season passes.. all need to go. Games were/are supposed to be fun, hell, I used to look at them as art! Hope all this comes to something, really do it's all pretty nasty and as a gamer, embarrassing.. |

Quite a while ago my partner asked me to show her GTA, she was curious, never seen it, I did and without thinking made my character shoot someone through the windscreen, drag the body from the car and stole the said car.. She was horrified! "Why did you do that?" She asked "Um.. because you can?" Her reaction was quite unexpected and made me really think.. I sold it the next day.. True story :/ |

It's not the money aspect as such, 83p per month isn't much let's be honest, it's the percentage that gets me and the randomness of it... We are going to increase the price of this (pretty much) important part of your PlayStation experience because we can attitude etc. It's really made me question the whole online gaming part of my hobby, do I want this? Am I willing to pay whatever they ask? Destiny 2, COD:WW2 and GT Sport... Really looking forward to them, only now has it dawned on me how reliant these games will be on me paying an extra charge to Sony to get the games full potential, not a good feeling.. I sincerely believe this 25% increase has opened my eyes and I don't get the picture anymore... 🤔 |

It's this article that made me realise the state of play regarding pay to win in our hobby at the moment. Never took much notice as I never buy anything apart from map packs, but yeah, the whole "gambling" analogy has pretty much hit the nail on the head. How did this happen? Looking back now, it's everywhere in our hobby. Quite concerning one of my kids spends a lot of his wages on gaming but never seems to buy any discs... he plays FIFA, COD, Rocket League etc.. Think I now know where it all goes.. holy shit! Time for words.... 🤔 |
