@dr_lha it sounds like you're having much more luck than I am! Just to be clear that I'm enjoying the game a lot but the constant crashes are very frustrating; quick google.search suggests I'm not alone.

@Useful_Idiot It's getting ridiculous now - I can barely play more than two levels without it crashing. One of the least stable games I've played in a while. I hope it gets fixed soon.

It's not a bad little game and I'm enjoying it so far, but be warned that it is BUGGY. I've had at least three hard crashes from only around 2-3 hours of play.

@poobob I've noticed that, but I have to imagine it takes time to build up a readership. If they keep up the quality they deserve to do really well. It's become my second go-to gaming site - lots of nice little features to read on the commute to work.

Is this actually out on Vita? I tried hunting it down after seeing it in a "10 games you must get for your Vita" list and can't find it in the store anywhere. Is it a US/Europe thing or am I just being useless?

BioShock Infinite and Metro: Last Light coming free to PS Plus

andy10

I'm already getting great value through PS+ for my PS4 and Vita. At this rate I might have to invest in a PS3 too!

As many have said before: even if you don't own all the systems in question, go online to the Sony store and "purchase" all of the PS+ games through your account. They'll be there waiting for you to download should you ever invest in a PS4/PS3/Vita, even if the games have left the PS+ rotation.

@bart_dan I take all of these points. I just think asking someone "what's your price?" in a forum as public as Twitter is a little off, particularly for indie publishers who may not have access to the same privileges.

@anneother Gross income shows that they are selling a lot of things and people are buying thise things. I'm guessing you wanted to quote net profit to make your point.

Either way, I don't think it's relevant. Good to hear EA seem to be making more than a token effort towards good causes. Credit where credit's due.

Why Xbox failed in Japan

andy10

Brilliant article Wes - found it a fascinating read last year and just enjoyed reading it all over again. Would be a great follow up to speak to those involved in the Xbox One launch in Japan this time round. Though I suspect it's only in retrospect, years after the fact, that people are willing to give such candid assessments of the successes and failures.

Grand Theft Auto 5 patch 1.05 finally released

andy10

It's a shame Rockstar are such a media-hating bunch, as it'd be genuinely interesting to hear what their vision for GTA Online was, versus what's actually happened. Were they expecting to build this into a persistent online world for years to come? Have they missed the boat due to such a messy launch and as the playerbase moves on to the next gen consoles? There's a really fascinating story in there somewhere but I doubt we'll ever get to hear it.

Rockstar advises GTA 5 players avoid garages until a bug is fixed

@darkmorgado No, it's a recognised issue:

http://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200357093

Last night I seemed to have consistent access to the stock market and some social club friend achievements even started popping up in my feed, but it's been hit and miss so far.
0 0

andy10

@darkmorgado Thanks, I know - but there are some Lester missions where you can make money by investing in Bawsaq stocks (and he pretty explicitly advises you to). Annoying when you can only access it intermittently.
2 0

andy10

Hopefully they'll fix the rockstar social club integration soon. Half the time I can't access the Bawsaq stock market because it's "down for maintenance" - thought it was a modern version of terrorism closing the city bridges until you'd completed enough story missions, until I read it was an online feature. It's put me off doing some of the missions so I don't miss out on those juicy stock tips.

Grand Theft Auto 5 review

andy10

I haven't played the game yet but I think there's a lot to be said for the sentiment expressed about distasteful violence (articulated here and in the Joystiq review, especially). Even in GTA IV I wss uncomfortable at some of the things I was asked to do.

I'll always remember the scene in Call of Duty: Black Ops where I had to perform a quick time event to punch a defenceless guy with glass in his mouth. It was a disgusting and brutal act and I didn't want to do it but there was no other choice to progress the narrative. There's a line between using violence to inspire horror, and gratuitous torture porn. I feel games indulge in the latter far too often, and as gamers we should demand better. It sounds like Rockstar missed an opportunity here.

I'm really looking forward to playing GTA V tomorrow but I'm concerned a lot of reviews - including the gushing ones - have picked up on this.

Another day, another Assassin's Creed 4 video! I reached saturation point a long time ago. I find it remarkable how many of these they've been churning out, for what seems like months now. It makes me think Ubisoft must be nervous about something... let's hope the game is as fun as it sounds.

Gearbox is working on two new IPs for next-gen consoles

andy10

@Murton I completely agree that developers/publishers have an obligation to drum up as much interest as possible. But I do think some publishers are more subtle in their approaches than Gearbox when they know they're peddling an average product. Wasn't Duke meant to be 'the most complete gaming experience since Half Life 2', or something along those lines?

The trouble with the Molyneux/Howard example is that they deliver quality games, even if they don't always match the original claims. I think a little hyperbole and over-enthusiasm about your product is fine, but has to be earned.
4 0

andy10

@Murton While.I don't disagree with your sentiment, Gearbox were so bullish with those two turkeys that I think they've lost a lot of the good faith people had for them.

Gamer-Network own Nintendo Life but it doesn't produce the same type of video content. I'm sure they'd love to pick up Sony/Nintendo video shows if there were good propositions out there. In the meantime, perhaps it's best to lay off Outside Xbox for focusing on - shock horror! - Xbox content.
