Halo Infinite won't have campaign co-op or Forge at launch
|
Really makes you wonder what state this game will actually launch in. Delayed for a whole year and still launching without big features that fans expect from Halo. What the hell kind of state would it have been in of they did launch last year ? It really feels like 343 need new leadership at this point. I know the pandemic didn't help but it's clear that the development problems go well beyond covid issues. Also makes you think how did Microsoft let it get this bad and not step in sooner to course correct one of their flagship IP's, that was supposed to launch with their next gen systems ? I love Halo and want this to be a return to form but it's hard to have faith in 343 at this point. |

12 Minutes review - a time loop mystery that can't break free of tedium
|
Seems like some reviewers love it, while some have pointed out issues that might stop some from loving it. Dialogue can be clunky and unnatural sometimes, it can be a little repetitive, thanks to the time loop mechanic. Also it sounds like the ending doesn't quite stick the landing. With problems like that, for this type of narrative game, they seem like a valid points to bring up. Still looking forward to playing it though, despite it's issues. |

Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox edition review - occasionally clunky port can't dull the magic
|
@kirankara PS5 technically has Demon's Souls, Returnal, Ratchet & Clank, Destruction All-Stars and Astrobot as next gen only games and some great cross gen games like Sackboy and Spider-Man Miles Morales. But definitely backwards compatibility patches have been a big part of this first year of next gen so far, although can't complain too much, lots of great games now look and run even better, so that's been more than worth the upgrade for me. |

Looks like they did a great job with the console version overall. The graphics tech is very impressive, even on Series S and it's definitely a must have for fans of simulation games. If you're not a simulation fan, it will be something to show off how good the graphics look but after a few flights, the game could become pretty dull for people who aren't hardcore sim fans. Definitely not a fault of the game though, that will be down to a person's personal taste in games. It's good to see Microsoft finally start to release next gen games though. |

Ninja Theory currently building a "chunky" slice of Hellblade 2 before moving into full production
|
@LegacyRXT Well I was talking about big AAA mainstream first party games. Flight Sim is very niche and The Ascent is an indie game. They both look good but Forza and Halo are still the first two, big first party games on Xbox this gen. |

This is why Microsoft have invested heavily in Game Pass and Backwards Compatibility, because they know many of their big first party games are still years away. They are still feeling the effects from not investing in more studio's last gen and relying on Halo, Forza and Gears to carry the first part flag, which is still evident with Forza and Halo being the first 2 big games to come to Series X / S. |

Assassin's Creed Infinity is a live service platform connecting future games
|
@dannynorthcott With how long these games are, I'd had enough of the gameplay at 60+ hours, so I watched the story of the DLC, which was pretty good but I didn't need to carry on playing at that point. Same for Valhalla, after 60+ hours, I needed to move on to something else, so will probably watch the story of the DLC again, once it's out. |

@MrDweezil Pretty much what I do, I don't even bother with the DLC, unless it's some amazing must play content. I enjoy them but don't need to do everything, plus I haven't got the time lol If it becomes more online focused, with less focus on a standard single player story and more about multiplayer and live service stuff, constantly adding more content, it won't be a game for me. |

Sony charging £9 for Ghost of Tsushima's PS5-exclusive features
|
@minmax I'd be more against it if it was a basic 4k/60 upgrade but they did go back and add in new features not in the PS4 version - DualSense features, improved 3D Audio, etc Plus they aren't locking people out who want to pay the lower upgrade price, as you can still play the PS4 version at 60fps on PS5, which was a free upgrade, along with the free multiplayer, so it's not like they are milking us for everything with this game. I know it's not perfect and we all want things for free but that's never going to happen with every game unfortunately but there are certainly worse upgrade deals out there for other games. |

I'll gladly pay the £24.99 to upgrade to the PS5 version, with the new expansion dlc and extra PS5 features. Ghost is an excellent game, packed with content and they gave us a fantastic (totally free) multiplayer mode and put some work into additional features, it's not just a basic 4k/60fps upgrade, so I'm happy to support Sucker Punch in this case. |

Xbox/Bethesda at E3 2021: a game-changer for Microsoft
|
Great value for Game Pass no denying that. Just a shame all the Xbox games I'm interested in, are still months and years away. Crazy to think it's taken Microsoft nearly a whole year since releasing Series X/S to release their first big 1st Party games - Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite. They really dropped the ball last gen with their 1st party studio's and it's only just starting to turn around now. |

Great Direct. Lots of great games, BotW 2 looks awesome and holy shit, a new Metroid game, probably the highlight of E3 for me. I was expecting maybe a small teaser for Prime 4 but getting a brand new side scrolling Metroid is just amazing and it's great to see them finally making Dread, after putting it on the shelf for years. Cannot wait for this. |

Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy is single-player, without DLC or microtransactions
| @Shypg3 Not sure why it needs DLC. It's actually a nice change to have a game with no DLC or Microtransactions. Just a complete single player story driven game, it could be really good and already looks a lot better than the crappy Avengers GaaS game. |

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - all three graphics modes tried and tested
|
@_TheDarkSide_ lol it's easy to be torn because they both do some different things superbly well. TLoU2's character animation is on another level compared to pretty much any game and the realistic graphical style is obviously very different to R&C, so it's difficult to compare directly. Both are stunning in their own ways and they are 2 of the best looking games on any system. Us PlayStation fans are very lucky to have such amazing games. Now if only Microsoft could get their studio's making some of their own high quality games like this and not just smaller games to keep feeding Game Pass. I'd like to see the Series X at it's full potential at some point this gen, maybe I might even buy one then. |

@Articiok A few people have had this issue because of the 120Hz output, it's how the PS5 outputs at 120Hz and some TV's just don't handle 120Hz great with all the bells and whistles, like HDR etc. It's a bandwidth issue. A dev at Insomniac recently said on ResetEra they might patch it to stop the 120Hz output, to fix the issue for many people. |

@formulaic AMD's solution should work on consoles too, hopefully they can improve the image quality though, like what happened with DLSS 2.0 because it looked a bit rough when they showed it off. Always good to have more solutions but when we have great quality Checkerboard Rendering like used in RE Village or Insomniac's excellent Temporal Injection, it won't be too bad if AMD's version isn't amazing. |

Slight drop in resolution to play at 60fps + that gorgeous Ray Tracing, Performance RT Mode is the way to go. Easy choice. It's crazy to see how good this game looks, running at a very solid 60fps with RT enabled. It looks phenomenal on my 65" Sony XH92. Moving over to Zen 2 + RDNA 2, with SSD's was the best decision ever for consoles, the graphical and performance difference is night and day compared to last gen. |

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart review - cracking, unserious action
|
@Wakanda4eva78 For me personally, I've never had that issue with a R&C game. The weapons are fun to use and upgrade and this one should be even better in that regard thanks to the DualSense haptics and triggers. I wouldn't say the game is shallow in a really negative way really, R&C gameplay has never been really deep or needed much strategy but it's not really supposed to, it's a light hearted action platformer, full of charm and humour that all ages can enjoy. I think any reviewer wanting deeper gameplay is probably expecting too much from a R&C game. I'm 37 now and I still love the franchise because they are just fun to play. Having played all the games in the series and know what to expect, which is a light hearted, funny, Sci-Fi adventure, full of charming characters and crazy fun weapons, I'm really looking forward to playing this, not just for the impressive next gen graphics. It's around 12 hours long, with lots of collectables and double that if you play again on NG+ Challenge Mode, which has a harder difficulty and extra weapons and upgrades, so even though gameplay isn't super deep, it doesn't outstay it's welcome and is just fun to play. |

@kirankara Not seen any negative reviews to be fair, out of the 100 reviews so far, the 4 lowest review scores are 7/10, which are still positive and all the rest are higher, mostly 8's, 9's and 10's. It's not sitting at an 89 on Metacritic / Open Critic because it's bad or mediocre, so I wouldn't worry too much about 4 out of 100 reviews being slightly lower, especially when they are still good scores. There's always room for improvement, no game is perfect, but the pros far outweigh the cons for this one. I'm a big R&C fan anyway, so more of the same formula (but even better) with crazy impressive next gen visuals and a great use of the SSD with rifts, is fine with me because R&C games are a blast to play. It might surprise you, they are genuinely very good games. |

Absolutely stunning game. Insomniac have grown so much over the years and this looks to be their best game to date. The presentation and graphical quality here is on another level, a true next gen showcase. Their Temporal Injection technique is excellent, high quality RT reflections, excellent surround sound, 60fps modes even with RT, you can tell a lot of love has gone into this game. It definitely deserves all the high scores it's been getting. |

Battlefield 2042 is a radical return to the series' roots
|
@brucethemoose Well you will probably have a good time with this. Battlefield games normally deliver on large scale battles with vehicles, and this one looks like it could be better than the last few games. Just a shame it's expensive for what it offers, with less content than previous games and still has microtransactions and multiple paid battle passes on top of the full price. |

It will be really interesting to see how well this does. It's a full price game, has less content than previous games in the series (no campaign and 7 maps at launch) will have microtransactions and paid season passes, plus other massive online multiplayer shooters like COD Warzone are Free to Play now. It's gonna have to be something special to do really well. |

@kirankara lol well nothing wrong with waiting. I'm getting the disc version because I could get it for £62, so I totally get why some people would wait, £70 isn't cheap. I guess the only plus side to the pricing is at least you know it's going to be a top quality experience, as it's rare for a PS exclusive to be a misfire. |

Paying full price for the campaign is a risk, when the campaign quality is in serious question, when it's 3 months to launch and they still haven't shown it since last year's piss poor reveal. Plus having to wait 3-6 months for co-op and Forge (providing there are no more delays) makes it even worse if you are paying full price.
