None of those techniques were thought to be "impossible" on the Wii, because Factor 5 had done them on the Gamecube 6 years previously.

I'd also LOVE to know where you're getting those sales figures. NPD isn't available 'till the 12th, as anyone betting on the sales figures at GAF knows.

In the benchmarking thread everyone with a reasonable system was blitzing it.

I'm not convinced with the tech TBH. I completed RFG and enjoyed it loads, but most of the time I found the physics doesn't actually work as it should (floating floors, whole buildings held up with a couple of sticks, ladders in mid-air etc)
Looks great when everything's exploding, but the whole ''take out the structural supports and watch the building collapse realistically' doesn't really work in practice.

Almost seems like a step back from the original geomod by being limited to just structures as well.

MS marketing for XBLC games "woeful"

Wastelander

From my experience I tend to only buy MS points when I've got something particular to buy in mind, and maybe spend the left over on a XBLA game or a bit of cheaper DLC.
There's so much content on the marketplace I've not even had the chance to buy and play all the things I do want a look at, nevermind spending those points on an unknown quantity.

I don't think advertising will make much difference when these little games are competing against proper DLC and XBLA for your points.

Obviously you can play it in whatever res you like on PC but the original game has no shader support at all and the engine is getting creaky.

This version is obviously a bit of a re-boot with a new engine.

I'm wondering now if this isn't going to be using the new Serous 3 engine. They've been working on it for yonks.

Serious Sam HD

Wastelander

Xbox Serious Sam was a combo of the first and second PC games. It also got The PC version of SS2.
Other consoles got the "Next Encounter" spinoff.

Wastelander

"So wait, why are there TSE screens in here? "

The console version of SS was a hybrid of the PC original and second encounter, I'm guessing it's that version they've redone.

Wastelander

Serious Sam II proper did actually get an xbox release before the format was dropped.
It was easier on Xbox by miles due to generous autoaim and less/slower baddies, the PC version was brutally difficult in the later stages.

Wastelander

It's definitely been re-jigged. The original was nice, but those screens look like they've ported the old game on to the engine they used for Serious Sam 2 (which still looks fantastic)

Face-Off Extra: Sacred 2 1080p Performance Analysis

Wastelander

Strange there's no performance difference between the two resolutions, surprised that it's actually 1080 native too.

Interesting you should ask about PC-style graphics options as well. I say devs should go for it.
People will always moan about tearing, graphics and framerate. If a game can't provide all three, give the gamer a choice over what they prefer.

"I'm a sceptic and I just point(ed) out the ridiculousness of the E3 Natal hype. That /= being scared. "

There's being a sceptic and there's banging ON AND ON about how doomed the whole project is in EVERY thread where it's mentioned.

We get it, you feel threatened for some reason and you don't like Natal.

Not everyone has an imagination and looks forward to something different, and that's cool, if a little sad.
The rest of us can't wait to see what they come up with for Natal, the wand and M+

Wastelander

Scared?! Me!? Why?

Glad you asked. Here's a few choice quotes from any Natal thread:

Ah well, now that the video game press are recovering from their collective hangovers, they slowly but steadily start to pierce through the Natal vapour. In a few months, we'll all laugh about it and next pretend it never happened...

in time development resources will shift from traditional controller games to the motion sensing games. So even if you don't buy a Natal it might still affect the games you want to play.

I'm pretty sure that Natal's roots were in the Windows devision. MS people saw Minority Report, first thought "That is cool" and then thought "how can we replicate this for Windows?". Problem is that the only thing that matters in a movie is whether it looks cool. Little thought is given to practical implications.

Not really as it's all just words and no substance. The guy was clearly there to sell the 3DV stuff. And it worked as MS bought them. Only real playtime will tell us something worthwhile about Natal.

The ridiculous and obviously not working 3D break-out 'game', a useless paint program and a shaky burnout demos you mean?!

Well that tells us pretty much nothing...

Controllers are indeed a barrier. But Natan is a controller. An optical one, but still a controller. And therefore in most cases as much a barrier as a regular controller and in other cases even more. Until they've developed a device that can read our minds, MS should have just bitten the bullet and gone with a Wii-mote rip-off. Might not be classy but it would be a better solution and screw what the fanboys think.

The only proper response to this PR bullshit is LOL

That's just a little slice of the negativity. I could get more if you like?
You've obviously got a HUGE Natal shaped chip on your shoulder, what's the deal?
3 0

Wastelander

Cool, bring it on. I'm all for motion controlled games if they make them interesting.
I play most of my games on the PC, having something completely different on consoles to differentiate the two is a good thing.

You seem very scared Les, what's the problem?
0 0

Wastelander

Don't use it then.
It's really not hard. If you don't want Natal, you really don't have to buy it.
No-one is going to come round and take your controller away, so stop crying.
