Hideo Kojima: gamers are happy with what they have

ToOldToGame

Bobby Kotick strikes me as a massive cock, one that would drop Activision like a bad habit if the Call of Duty bubble was to ever burst.

However, as far as profit margins go his business plan is perfectly sound. His job is to make money and he's doing a damn good job if it.

It doesn't help that some retailers won't stock much outside of the usual big hitters. As an example, El Shaddai wasn't available anywhere on our local high street at launch.

Yes, more Legacy of Kain would be good.

Still interested in what Crystal have in store otherwise. They're a good dev.

Meet the Griefers

@Paulie

Making a little kid cry, even if he shouldn't be playing the game, is a pretty shit thing to do.

The kids father is a dick for allowing his child to play the game sure, but it wasn't up to your mate to 'teach said kid a lesson' as it were. As such he's just s big a dick as the parent.

I don't think you can seriously lump a few tools dicking about on Call of Duty in the same bracket as bullying.

However, while there is certainly an argument for this 'griefing' being not much more than annoying I do feel that far to many gamers take their online experience way to seriously.

Some of the nerd rage I've come across online is simply shocking.

"You stole my kill dude! You stole my fucking kill! I hope you and your family die in a car accident!"

Was one particular outburst I was subjected to while playing World at War one time.

"Sonic Generations is a great game by the way".

Well, it's certainly the best of a bad bunch. Still not as good as the originals.

Sadly it won't ever happen. SEGA have held onto the Shenmue licence with almost frightening jealousy over the last 10 years. And lets be honest, if their current track record is anything to go by they'd much prefer to continue flogging that dead hedgehog of theirs that no one longer gives a fuck about than actually give gamers something they want...like Shenmue 3.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Review

It's not KOTOR 3 so I won't be buying it. MMO's are tedious.

On a more interesting note, I wonder just how many 8/10's EG dish out this year?

Such a shame so many are experiencing issues. It really isn't acceptable.

Being one of the lucky ps3 owners of Skyrim not to suffer any game breaking issues Skyrim has fast become one of my favourite games of this generation. Simply brilliant stuff.

I've not played this yet, but based on Demons Souls being excellent I can only assume from the praise heaped upon it Dark Souls is as equally as good.

On my to purchase list.

I'm really not in tune with a lot of gamers choices this year. I found Deus Ex: HR to be a tedious experience...

Never saw the appeal of Portal. I did rent Portal 2 out of curiosity, but again found myself becoming quickly bored.

Not for everyone I guess.

Games of 2011: Saints Row: The Third

@Totza

There's nothing remotely mature about the GTA series I'm afraid; not much more than comic book versions of gangstar movies. And to pass such a sweeping statement that people who enjoy the Saints Row series as being 'immature' is, rather ironically, immature.

Loved Saints 2.

Saints 3 was the bigest gaming let down I experienced this year.

Bascially, Volition put out the bare minimum required for a full price title, holding back much of what made Saints 2 so good. Sure Saints 3 is fun, but it's short lived with a broken mission structure, forced activities and half the features of the previous game.

I've no intention of being fleeced for downloadable content that came free with the previous games.

The best thing about Saints 3 is that the PS3 version came with a free downloadable copy of Saints 2.

Naughty Dog wants to "change the f***ing industry" with The Last of Us

"Please, we want games, not interactive movies. Video games are a storytelling medium but with its own characteristic: you experience the story firsthand."

While I agree that improvements to story telling is certainly needed I also agree with the above comment.
