TheGreenYamo

@EverilCorwell Yeah, there's been a few new accounts, popping up whose only contribution is to either a) Say Cyberpunk is the best game ever made or b) angrily denounce any criticism of the game / CDPR. there's a couple in this comments thread.

I wonder if we'll get as many as the amount that appeared to defend Fallout 76? That was ridiculous!

Before I Forget review - a vital addition to neurological art

TheGreenYamo

@marccollis I'm not 100% sure what you mean by mainstream games being easier to review, do you mean because people generally know what to expect from a AAA open world game / FPS etc.? Perhaps the mechanics of the game require further explanation?

RE: Your second point, perhaps the punchy summary for this particular review; "A brilliant woman's life is centre-stage in a game filled with insight and generosity." doesn't tell you a great deal about the game, but I'm not sure how much more information you could fit in the character limit :D

TheGreenYamo

@marccollis I get where you're coming from, sorry if my tone was a little off.

" If a reviewer recommends a 'bad' game (not saying this is one) then yes they would lose credibility in the eyes of those who have trusted their review" I mean, that would be true, but who would do that and potentially jeopardise their job as a game reviewer when anyone can easily read other reviews, watch lets plays on YouTube, etc? That's not what i picked up that from your post earlier post, sorry if I misinterpreted.

Also: You can say 'maybe not to everyone's liking' about pretty much every game. it's generally not possible to review a game based on what you think somebody else might think of it.

You could say, "If you like assassins creed origins, you'll like assassins creed odyssey" as they are very, very similar games, but I've definitely seen people who like one and not the other.

TheGreenYamo

@marccollis @marccollis Why don't you read the actual words in the review and decide if it's a game you will enjoy?

It's silly to suggest that a reviewer should 'lose credibility', because they liked a game you didn't.

The coolest one I remember was in the first Colin McRae rally on the PS1, where if you parked you car in a certain lay-by on one of the Australian tracks and wait for a while, you'd get abducted by a UFO.

There were a few other good ones in CM1, but I've completely forgotten what they are!
