A brilliant article. Online multiplayer has no appeal to me at all, to me your opponents are faceless strangers, they may as well be computer controlled bots. It just cannot compete with the camaraderie of getting together with your mates and playing a game together in one room. The goading, the fighting talk, the laughter and rage. I feel it's been completely forgotten about with the advent of online play and catering to a younger audience who have grown up thinking social interaction is something you do via a keyboard/joypad/headset and the net. For me, it never got any better than the likes of Ramparts or 4-player Super Bomberman on the SNES, or 4-player races & battle modes in Mariokart R on the N64. My friends & I would spend entire nights playing those and the fun never lost its sheen. I hope it returns some day. |

Jesus, some humility from Ubi wouldn't go amiss. The first game isn't on the shelves yet that's causing enough controversy as it is with its visual downgrade and Ubi blatantly bribing the press. I assume yearly releases will commence the as quickly as possible and Watch_Dogs 4 (which will actually be the sixth game in the series) will have a huge emphasis on naval combat. |

Excellent article, good job EG. Confession time...I never liked Symphony when I first got it. I played it in bad circumstances really (round my girlfriend's house, people milling about and me not being able to properly concentrate), and when I stopped playing after getting to the Slogra/Gaibon fight it left me feeling genuinely cold with all the newness that I hadn't been able to get to grips with. I never picked it up and played it again for months. Needless to say when I did play it again, properly this time, everything I'd experienced the first time around was blown clear out of the water. It still ranks as one the greatest games I've ever played. Good luck to Iga and whatever ventures he gets into. If he ends up going to Kickstarter I'm sure, with his portfolio, he'll have no worries. |
