Fez finally comes to PS4, PS3 and Vita in March

Roddy100

I've been so looking forward to playing this on my Vita. And it's so nice of them to give me the PS3/PS4 versions free or charge as a bonus!

Given the quality of the PSN port of Spelunky, I'm glad Blitworks are handling this too one too :)

Wii is most popular console in the UK

Roddy100

What's with these debates on console sales? Is everyone just hoping that THEIR favourite console comes out on top? Do they want all the other consoles to die a lonely death?

I would like ALL these consoles to sell well as it keeps the games industry interesting and provides more choice for the gamers. Why can't there be room on the games shelves for both casual and harcore games?

I love the rythym game-style steath kills and laser wire dodging. I love the bond-style music and trademark Ratchet & Clank humour. And I love disguising myself as a plant. Totally going to get this!

It's a long demo too with lots to do.

Games are "Satan's sudoku", claims Times

Roddy100

Basically, she thought of the words "Satan's Sudoku" and decided that she was very clever for coming up with that.

But then she realised she couldn't publish those two words on their own and quickly slapped together a terrible article to go with it.

If only she knew how stupid and embarassed she SHOULD be feeling.

God of War 2

Roddy100

Good review and a fair score.

I completely agree about the save points. I have a full time job, a wife and a seven month old daughter so my gaming time is limited to say the very least.

When it gets to 11.45pm and I have work the next day and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the next yellow save point to appear in view, I begin to feel a little... well, frustrated. My wife most likely was getting quite fed up with my constant cries of "I can't come to bed yet, darling - I haven't been able to save yet. If I stop now I have to redo half an hour's worth of intense killing all over again."

This is partly why I'm enjoying Tomb Raider Anniversary so much - checkpoints are delightfully frequent and saving my game let's me start from the point I last reached with no fuss at all.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Roddy100

Another excellent review, Neil74. This basically sums up exactly how I feel about Tomb Raider Anniversary and how it compares to my experience with the original way back in 1996.

(And I agree with you about the new St. Francis Folly.)

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Roddy100

I'm in (sort of) the same boat as you, ZuluHero, as I have a wife and seven month old daughter and she keeps me REALLY busy, so any game with frequent checkpoints and/or opportunities to save gets extra points from me!

I do know exactly what you mean. Tomb Raider was one of the very first games I got for my new PlayStation in 1996 and I was completely gobsmacked! The reason for this? I was playing a platform / adventure game in full 3D!!! I had never seen anything like this before because there WASN'T anything like it. I was able to hold down a button and look around a room - a 3D space - and I could run in that direction or climb the ledge in that direction, I just couldn't believe it. And once I got used to that novelty I realised that I really liked the game as a whole; it had depth and an amazing female lead character - something else I hadn't experienced in games before. (Well, not counting Ms Pacman but that was quite different.) It also had brain-teasing puzzles which were immensely satisfying to solve - pushing crates was NEW back then, can you even believe it? It's in every second game these days!

Anyway, I digress. I think my point is, I know that Tomb Raider Anniversary cannot possibly replicate the experience I got from the original and I don't even think this is a fault of the game itself. It's not introducing me to a new and exciting character, it's not kick starting an entire new genre and it's certainly not going to be light years ahead of everything else from a technological standpoint and because of this I don't think I will be too disappointed in it. I've played Legend so I'm pretty confident I'll be at home with the camera and controls so it will really be the level design (and nostalgic value) that determines how much fun i have with it.

First comment! I really enjoyed your review - honest, witty and somewhat heartbreaking (the hamster thing is a little close to home).

I was going to replay the original Tomb Raider before starting on Anniversary but upon reading your review I have come to the conclusion that this is not such a great idea. Sounds like I'll enjoy Anniversary MUCH more if the original game isn't fresh in my mind. It is my favourite game of all time but I haven't played it in years and, unlike yourself, I've never been able to recite the dialogue line for line. ;)

Anyway, if Anniversary is as open and secret packed as it sounds I'm sure I'll have a great time. I will just have to try to view it as a separate game rather than a remake. A tribute perhaps?

All 30 PS3 titles for 23rd March

Roddy100

Can't say the line up interests me that much but in saying that, neither did the PS2 launch titles and I now have quite an impressive PS2 game collection. I have no doubts that PS3 will have it's fair share of "must-have" games later down the track.

But at this stage it's only PS2 and PSP games on my most wanted list:

On PS2: Okami, Tomb Raider Anniversary, God of War II.

And on PSP: Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Sid Meier's Pirates, Metal Gear Portable Ops.

SingStar Legends team up

Roddy100

Kangarootoo, many users (myself included) have fallen victim to faulty Rocks discs in which the video freezes and the music cuts out completely yet you can still sing and be scored. At least until the pause manu pops up all on it's own. Swapping the disc doesn't help and it seems that certain PS2s both old and brand new, are imcompatible with this disc.

You can read about it here:
http://arewold.wordpress.com/singstar-ro...
Even good old Wikipedia mentions the problem.

Already preordered but for some reason it comes out a week later here (New Zealand = June 30th) than it does in the UK.

Still, I can definitely wait one more agonising week for potentially my fave PSP game ever!
