Retro_

@Mr_Writer85 sorry fella but your argument just doesn't make any sense at all. PS3 was creaking years before PS4 arrived and PS4 will struggle with VR against PC and new 4k TV so this mid cycle update as an 'option' is perfect for my needs. So, perfect for me.

Of course, back in the day Insomniac and Naughty dog were big buddies and used to share engines. Sadly Insomniac lost the plot after Resistance 3. Still, they could make amends and give us a Remake of Resistance 1-3. Please ☺

Tech Analysis: Final Fantasy 15 Platinum demo

Weirdly, I played this demo on PS4 and didn't have any issues with large frame rate drops, in fact, compared to the much earlier demo last year, it was far smoother and nicer looking too.

PlayStation blog page suggests No Man's Sky will be full-priced release

Retro_

My initial opinion of NMS hasn't changed since it was announced. It read like a clever tech demo but nothing more than the planet mining subgame within Mass Effect. Every planet may look different and be inhabited by new creatures but outside of all that, what is the game play changes.... none?

I am so ready to be proved wrong but I expect not. I see this as no more than one of those 1990's underwater exploration games to chillout music.

Also, full price!! I think not.

It sounds like Xbox One will get hardware upgrades

So Xbox becomes the win10 equivalent of a Steam Machine.

Xbox gets stuffed by PS4 so this makes perfect sense. Its a clever move by MS and another step towards global domination by the Earth crushing corporation.

Dark Souls to receive Xbox One backwards compatibility

@kinky_mong I do hope that wasn't aimed at me because I am not bitter at all. I was just saying it's clever marketing of MS to distract the eye from the Prize i.e. DS3
2 3

Retro_

I like how MS is promoting BC as an enticement to buy the XB1 version over PS4. Saying that, it's all about DS3 and which version will run best on what console and if I were a betting man, I'd wager the PS4 version might just get the nod.

Still, clever of MS to market BC in this way.

Performance Analysis: Hitman beta on PS4

Retro_

@IronSoldier The games should indeed "look" better than what was possible on consoles dating back to 1977. It's hardly an achievement that they do!

Please factor into my statement the dates that I owned them. I was not comparing the VCS2600's graphics with PS4's merely my satisfaction with those graphics back at the time when I owned them. I thought the timeline aspect was obvious but clearly not.

btw, did you play Driver 2 on PS1 in split screen at 2 or 3 fps? It was beyond shocking!

Is it ok to be happy with my PS4?

Compared with my VCS2600, Megadrive, SNES, Saturn, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast and PS3 the games look and run very well on the whole.

OK, it's totally owned by PC rigs but that's the choice I've made and I'm ok with that. If a PC came out the size of the PS4 with perhaps double/triple the power which cost 500 and allowed me to use my DS4 and is 90% 1080p/60 then I'd seriously consider it. The steam machine has got it 60% right but sadly 40% wrong so for the time being, that's not an option.

In the here and now, the PS4 is ideal.... for me.

Retro_

Dropping below 30fps is not good. Here's hoping they manage to get it north of this figure consistently and allow for a 30fps lock. a 30fps lock alongside a dynamic resolution as seen in the Wolfenstein games and a few XB1 titles might benefit here.

I love IO Interactive and was the one person who enjoyed K&L2, would love another K&L !

Not everyone's thrilled with Microsoft's Quantum Break PC announcement

Retro_

The timing was to dupe as many people into buying an XB1 as possible, pure and simple. Saying that, for people who wanted an XB1 or are happy with their XB1 this is no big deal.

As a PS4 owner I would buy a PC before an XB1 as an XB1 is totally irrelevant in my eyes.

"Vanquish is another Platinum Games title that still stands alone: think about how many third-person shooters we see, and six years after release not a one can touch it. It's criminal that this hasn't yet seen a current-gen release or the PC version it so richly deserves"

I played Vanquish on PS3 and it was truly awesome in every way, so smooth with no slowdown or tearing at all. Platinum did a fantastic job on it. A title crying our for a sequel and HD remaster if ever there was one.

Pretty sure this'll be a smooth 1080p/30 or 900p/30 upon release on console.
