Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite review

Razzajazz

I had every feeling this was going to be disappointing, and I feel I might be right, I never ever thought Neverrealm would comprehensively beat Capcom, but in 2017, when it comes to comic book fighters, seems that Injustice 2 is the only choice.

And, unrelated, I'm sick and tired of people in the comments trying to prove how 'un-PC' they are. We get it, you don't think that minority groups should speak up, you just want to play your games or watch your sports or whatever without having to think about how some people might not be represented. We understand, you're super cool by going against the grain. Jesus Christ, just shut up, no one cares.

I don't understand people complaining here: It's basically remote play, except you don't necessarily need a specialist PS Vita to use it. It might not be useful for everybody, but it's a nice feature to have.

I swear, gamers just complain about any and everything nowadays.

The Xbox One updates keep on coming

Razzajazz

Does anybody know if they're planning to add Blu Ray 3D support any time soon? As a previous poster mentioned, it totally defeats the concept of an all-in-one media centre, and it's kinda embarrassing that I have to unplug my Xbox One and plug my PS3 back in if I want to watch a 3D film.

Knowing Microsoft, though, they'll release it a separate add-on, and I'll have something else to keep in my attic along with my HD-DVD player. :D

Be advised: I was wrong about Titanfall

Razzajazz

I think people need to realise that this is the first AAA release on the new consoles since they launched, and that's why it's getting all this coverage. And if you're sick of EG's coverage, you're gonna love it at launch time when it gets covered on BBC News, in The Metro, etc. :)

As for the game itself, I'm not great at competitive FPS's generally, but this is balanced so well that I can actually feel like I'm contributing to the team, although I'm still getting headshotted with alarming regularity. So yup, another pre-order here. :D

Really? Illmatic wasn't good? Ok....

But yeah, clearly Microsoft are still listening to this one imaginary consumer that they have tied up in Redmond, as opposed to, y'know, gamers. Oh well.

Not entirely sure of the reasons, but in Japan she's pretty much the first FF character since Cloud to gain this much traction among the fans. I have to agree with the majority of you guys, though, she's dull as dishwater. I prefer when the FF protagonists are cheeky like Zidane and Vaan, rather than the "woe-is-me" types.

That said, I am loving FF XIV at the moment, and the more FATEs the better! :)

I'm enjoying both aspects of Defiance at the moment. Neither the game or the show are uber-revolutionary, but they're both solid and enjoyable, so I can't see why other people couldn't have a go at the whole synergy thing. I certainly wouldn't expect it to pull up trees, though.

If this isn't taken care of soon, this will kill mobile gaming as a proper industry concern before it's even begun. Indie devs and small teams will just not bother, leaving only the big publishers/usual suspects, and the vibrancy and innovation that apps are currently celebrated for will be dead in the water. C'est la vie....

UK chart: Injustice: Gods Among Us topples BioShock Infinite

Razzajazz

Yup, Fire Emblem is da shiznit, as the kids used to say! Don't even mind getting the tube to work now! Glad to see Defiance is doing pretty well as well, I still think the EG review was a bit harsh, it's a rough diamond, that one.

I'll pick up Injustice at some stage, but don't know how I'm going to squeeze that one in. I went from saying I wasn't going to buy many games this year to having a play queue backing up, don't know how that happened!

BioShock Infinite: America's Fairground

Razzajazz

Another big fan here, I loved this game from start to finish, and am also wondering when I'll next play a game that's grabbed me as much as this one. I think the combat was paced amazingly, and my only complaint would be there wasn't much call for close-ranged tactics, it was much easier to stay at a distance. However, the vigor-shooting rhythm was smooth and fun, and the guns felt weighty, which is always important in an FPS.

More importantly, so many aspects of the game world have stayed with me after playing, from the historical bits such as Wounded Knee and early American history, to the implications of quantum physics and spacetime. Whether you thought the game was amazing or not, how many of you can honestly say that lots of games we're treated to have such strong, diverse themes? No, it's rare as rocking horse shit, and so that's why this game should be celebrated and lauded!

"A life with vigor is a life that's bigger!" :D

BioShock Infinite ending explained

Razzajazz

Just completed my second runthrough, this game is just stunningly good, and probably my favourite game ending ever. I feel like it's what MGS2 was trying to achieve in terms of mind-blowing endings, but BSI actually does it properly!

I have been quite surprised by how many people found the ending confusing, as soon as I saw it I knew what it was getting at. I would have thought that a large amount of gamers would have had at least a passing interest in spacetime theory and parallel universes! And now I stand corrected!

It's also the first game I've ever bought a DLC season pass for, I really cannot wait to see what Irrational have got up their sleeves there.

Windows 8 sales break 60 million in 10 weeks

Razzajazz

Been running Windows 8 for a couple of weeks now, and I can't see at all what any of the negativity is about. Admittedly, I think it does better in a multi-monitor setup like mine, so you always have a desktop visable, but as was mentioned earlier, if you just think of the whole ModernUI screen like a giant Start button, it's very simple. Again, I just don't understand why people are finding it so confusing, but that is just my experience, and I'd be happy to be shown why it really is so awful.

I understand that there is concern regarding MS's direction at the moment, but I just can't believe they'd be stupid enough to lock Windows down to only running pre-approved software. I know that they are jealous of Apple's "vertical integration" model, but Windows is the world's most popular desktop OS purely because of its ability to let any person code and distribute software.

Or maybe Steve Ballmer really is as mental and stupid as he appears....

I re-subbed for a month last week after quitting in disgust less than a week after the original release, having not logged in in the interim. The changes they've made as of now are pretty damn impressive, I can certainly see that they are very committed to at least making a go of it. I think it will also help them that they are not looking for WoW-level success, just a regular playerbase. I wish 'em the best of luck, and will definitely be splitting my time between 2.0 and GW2!

Board Games Are Back

Razzajazz

Me and my mates are currently playing Risk: Legacy, which is kinda like standard Risk, but with permanency! Winners get to name continents, establish cities, and the best part is that the game comes with sealed envelopes that only open when certain conditions are reached, and that contain permanent rule changes and new missions and stuff. It really is absolutely brilliant, and has caused us all to fall out with each other at least once!

It really does seem that games designers are starting to apply video game principles to board games, and vice versa, which is making for some really interesting ideas. And with the advent of Kickstarter, you're seeing a lot more things come to fruition.

Once again, generally Android users are left out in the cold. I'm playing Rage Of Bahamut, but that's almost by default since there isn't much else. It's ok, but certainly not very complex at all. Another one worth maybe having a look at is Cabals, which kinda has a board game element to it too.

Am I the only one who finds the trend of being able to literally buy yourself to the end of every game just a wee bit disturbing?
