| @mecha-blargh Times are different though, Microsoft, Tencent/Epic , Embracer etc. can easily purchase a studio after one good game so if the potential is there Sony won't wait years to secure a deal. Kojima built a studio and released a game in no time, Jade probably is just taking the whole Stadia studio with her, so not really starting from scratch. It will heavily depends on how much initial investment she gets from Sony and that would surely come with a first refusal option if she decides to sell. |

Let's be honest here, what's an exclusive usually worth in the first year anyway? They're mostly overpriced demos that can't even take advantage of all the new hardware yet. Do people really want to play another Ryse-type game just so they can justify spending 500 quid on a new console? Does anyone really think that in the first year Sony will be releasing a HZD2 or other tent-pole title exclusively for the PS5 when they have well over 100 million PS4s out there? I'm sure they will put something out there but will that be worth 400-500 quid? I doubt it. Microsoft is only guilty of being too honest there. Then there's the Game Pass issue. You have people committing right now to 1,2,3 years of GP with the promise of getting all future 1st party games "for free" but now they're being told it's only valid with an extra £400-500 commitment. It would be like Netflix saying you need a new TV to watch The Witcher season 2. I can see both sides of the argument but it's not as big of a deal as people pretend. I'm looking forward to picking up both regardless. |

| @SBandy MS doesn't care how many consoles they sell, they care that you subscribe to Game Pass. In that sense it's a smart move (in theory). Imagine paying for Netflix but you can only watch Witcher season 2 if you buy a new TV. Sony doesn't have a Game Pass subscription to worry about (PS Now doesn't have exclusives available on day one) so the models can't really be compared. |

Uncharted 4, HZD, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, The Order 1886, GT Sport, Street Fighter V, Nier Automata. All of these were £49.99 RRP digital!
Then they went up to £52.99 for some games like Detroit and God of War, then up again to £54.99 for games like Spider-Man, TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima.
At what point do we agree they're taking the piss because 20 quid RRP (not the 25 I mentioned earlier) in less than 5 years seems really there to me.
