Yep. I had to yank out the power cable from the back and then watch nervously as it rebooted and checked my HDD file system.

Then it was fine. Still can't get past the "Failed to Host a GTA Online Session" error message though.

Why you should remember Blitz

LowEnergyCycle

5 years ago

So thanks to the Oliver twins and everyone at Blitz. The nicest company in the UK. A company run by two chaps who will, for me, always be the two guys working in shifts on their home PC to make their own independent puzzle platformers, about 20 years before the rest of us thought that might be a doable thing.

Amazing final paragraph.

@FuzzyDuck

I treat them as a nice pallet-cleanser to all the doom and gloom articles about the corruption of the industry, the silly next-gen console wars, the closed dev studios, the bland annual franchises etc. and I don't see a problem with that.

It would be fairly naive for Eurogamer to assume that people don't look at multiple review sites.

I'll accept that perhaps Ellie's reviews have always been more about entertainment than information, but again I don't see a problem with that.
5 7

LowEnergyCycle

5 years ago

@FuzzyDuck

I don't generally read Ellie's reviews for information. But I do enjoy them for the humor. There are a lot of other, drier reviewers out there that can fill in the details if needs be. And in the time it takes to write a snarky comment about this one, you could have found several.
7 7

LowEnergyCycle

5 years ago

I'm not sure there's really any problem with Ellie's review style. Some of you bitter, humorless old farts just need a hug. Or a different website to squawk at.

The Last Guardian now "on hiatus", Sony says

LowEnergyCycle

5 years ago

@Klarden I'm also not really a multiplayer gamer, but I can understand why they did this. By their own words they intend to create the best multiplayer network in gaming, and the servers required for that will be pricey to maintain.

And still, with the added benefits of PS+, again I think it's a pretty small issue.

It's pretty much the only downer of the whole PS4 news so far. It's a big downer, sure, but versus the Xbone debacle it's still a drop in the ocean in my humble hippy opinion.

Pirates force Project Zomboid offline

LowEnergyCycle

7 years ago

@twinbarettas

I don't even know what point you're trying to make here. There's really no argument or debate: Pirates cracked a copy of Project Zomboid so that every time the Update button is pressed it costs the developer money that they clearly can't afford.

This is bad. The end.

If the developers want to turn a blind eye towards non-costly piracy of their own product in the hope that it will raise awareness then that is their own decision to make. Perhaps they just don't have the resources or time to chase down the piracy? Perhaps they would rather prioritise their time developing the game instead?
4 1

LowEnergyCycle

7 years ago

"Doesn't change the fact that the Zomboid devs are pro-piracy"

That is possibly one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Where do they say they are "pro-piracy"? What kind of a dev promotes piracy of their own product? They simply say that they recognise the awareness that the extra distribution creates. That doesn't mean they condone the activity.

"anti-paying-for-more-downloads-than-necessary"

From what I can tell, and following some Paypall and Google disputes over money, the team are living on a shoe-string budget. Of course they want to save some money.

I paid £20 for this a few months ago. I'll happily pay it again if needs be.
11 1

LowEnergyCycle

7 years ago

Wish somebody would cut these guys a break - they've had so much bad luck in the last few months. Project Zomboid seriously deserves your fiver, and anybody that pirates a £5 Indie game needs to take a good long look at themselves.
