That guy in the banner pic at the top of the article, fourth on the right. Is he wearing pharaonic regalia and... cream chinos? Is he a regatta goer circa 2000 BC?

He looks like the fantasy version of the lad who wakes up and finds his mates have written on his face.

Mario Kart 8 getting Mercedes car DLC

BMW and BMW drivers need to get in on this too. Their ability to constantly drive 2 inches off the back of your car would actually be a legitimate tactic in MK8, instead of just being highly dangerous and stupid behaviour.

Torchlight 2 Preview: The Devil's Work

Laserbream

It will be interesting to see if the Torchlight 2 multiplayer is affected by hacking.

Personally I'm buying it because it'll be a true single player experience, no internet connection required. And because a little competition is good for Actiblizzard.

Edited to correct smartphone mischief.

UK broadband is among the slowest in Europe - report

Laserbream

A question:

The UK has approx 62m citizens (wikipedia). Akamai's site claims it has approx 21m unique IPs.

Romania has approx 19m citizens (wikipedia). Akamai's site claims it has approx 2.5m unique IPs.

Does this mean the UK has a higher proportion of its population on the net, or simply that we have more devices connected?

Laserbream

I'm rubbish at maths, but if the gap between Diablo and Diablo 2 was three years, and the gap between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 will be twelve years, then will we be waiting 48 years for Diablo 4?

I'll need to look into retirement homes with internet access, assuming they stick with the always-connected strategy.

It's a fantastic game and deserves the success. Shame about the PS3 issues though.

Out This Week: 28/01/2011

Laserbream

The trailer makes it seem like Dead Space 2 will be to Dead Space 1 what Aliens was to Alien. Which I can understand - the horror has been revealed. Not much left to do but point large firearms at it and shout things like "Eat this!" and "Yiipeee-ka-yay!". I'll still buy it because I'm a sucker for sci-fi.

N.B. I am not suggesting that Dead Space 1 was as subtle or frightening as Alien.
