Why I don't understand YouTube: A middle-aged woman writes

@Plimsol Ah, what a classic! Great tunes too. Something great was obviously happening in Cyprus in 1987! 😉

41 year old man here. Can't say I really watch many livestreams, but YouTube is amazing at scratching that nostalgic itch of wanting to hear a particular tune from an old game, or reliving some spectacular set-piece from yesteryear. It has gotten to the point where I'm now assembling a playlist of old game music (chronological, of course) which effectively charts my entire gaming life! [A recent addition is the 'Diving' theme from Summer Olympiad on the Atari ST 😉]

Longplays are also great. It's highly unlikely I'll ever come across an arcade cabinet of Xain'd Sleena in the wild again, but thanks to YouTube I can relive the memory of discovering the game in some tiny village in the Troodos Mountains while on holiday in Cyprus in 1987.

I'd like to add my voice to the defence of AC1. Playing that game at the time blew me away. It also has nice memories of Christmas for me too, for some reason. And the Crusade setting was just perfect.

Altair, on the other hand, was a bit of a grump and I never really warmed to him.

I loved my ZX Spectrum 128k (toast-rack model) back in the day. So much so that I tracked down the same model last year to relive my early gaming experiences. Although games have come on leaps and bounds in the intervening years, there's nothing quite like sitting down to replay Cybernoid, Exolon, Where Time Stood Still, Laser Squad, Barbarian, Zynaps, R-Type, Trantor...[the list goes on]

Also, John Menzies REPREZENT!!

I really wish they re-release Future too, as I never got a chance to play it.
