Can see why people are annoyed and requesting a refund. They (Sony) put Bugsnax and now Destruction Allstars onto PS+, before they were available for pre-order so those who ordered via PlayStation store probably got a refund. In a way, there's pretty good argument for those who bought the Ultimate Edition when it came out right up until now, who are waiting on the PS5 version to come out. Technically, it's a pre-order even though the PS4 version is out. |

Buy Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox One and you get Series X version free, CD Projekt confirms

Two new Nintendo Switch models inspired by 3DS' split evolution, sources say
|
Wonder if they'll do a trade in program for those wanting to get either of the new iterations. As long as they don't make games exclusively for Switch Pro (or whatever they call it) as to not alienate it's current Switch install base, that'll be fine. I know the New 3DS had Xenoblade and the SNES VC, and it did upset people. |

HMV deal reached to save 100 shops

2nd time saved. Maybe this time, they'll turn around and learn. And on a plus, least Mike Ashley didn't get hold of HMV. The staff who are losing their jobs, hopefully they'll find something soon and land on their feet. |

UK video game sales now 80% digital
|
Once digital prices match to that of physical, then i'll consider swapping to digital for all my purchases. However, at the moment physical costs Ł5-Ł10 less than digital. I know it's convieniant having a digital library at your fingertips, however it's more expensive. Digital is here, and once a few more niggles have been sorted then it'll be exclusively. And when accounts get hacked, as you read about it happening, then your digital library is lost (with Sony, it's probably forever as they ban the account). At least physical games can be replayed on a new account, digital would mean a possible repurchase. |

HMV will accept your gift cards despite administration
|
It'll be a shame to see HMV go (if it does), 2nd time in 6 years the company is in administration. It's the way the modern world is heading though, physical media is being replaced quickly with streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Spotify. People see it costs X amount for a service with Y amount of content, so will ultimatly take the cheaper option. Stores like HMV and GAME have big overhead costs (rent, electricity etc) compared to Amazon and places similar, so costs will vary for purchases. I don't support Amazon due to the way they treat staff, so i'll be sad to see HMV go. Here's hoping someone snaps them up and it remains on the high street. Gaming is going the same way, it's only a matter of time before GAME go (and after my experience with them this past Christmas, they need to seriously sort out their site). Had a gift card, which i attempted to cash in to get a eshop card and a PSN top-up. First the site wouldn't take the gift card, then it did. Then it wouldn't let me use the giftcard in conjunction with my GAME Wallet/Points (the giftcard balance went straight to the Wallet/Points so in a way it made it impossible to even use). I had to call their Customer support to get my order to go through, something which should have taken minutes took me over an hour. |

EGX comes home to London next year
|
Little bit disappointed it's back in London next year. More so that the dates for the event tag a week later to MCM, and EGX is on the same (i think) weekend as the NFL. Booked a hotel with free cancellation just in case i decide to go. Knowing how i normally do things, would be sold out of rooms (or even more pricey nearer the time). |

Nintendo Switch has now outsold the GameCube
|
The GameCube would have sold more, if Nintendo captilised on the trend of having a DVD player built in to the machine (Panasonic made one, but wasn't sold outside of the US/Japan (whichever region it was)). Nor did they capitalise on online gaming as it was starting to take off with the Xbox and PS2. They had the Broadband and 56k modems, but outside of Phantasy Star Online, these were useless. Imagine if Double Dash, Smash Bros Melee and other games including the sports titles had Online capabilities. Nintendo did their own thing, and have done since. At times people question them, but most of the time they work out. Nice to see the Switch overtaking the GameCube (which was one of my favourite Nintendo consoles, selling just short of the original Xbox). That number of Switch's sold will rise with the likes of Let's Go and Smash Ultimate coming in November and December. |

EGX 2018: The best games from this year's show
|
I echo the comment on the security checks, the security team seemed to pick 1 in 10/15 people for a check. Mostly rucksacks, and even then it was a case of opening it and they peered inside. Some backs have 2, if not 3 compartments, so it was entirely possible to get passed the check with anything. I get it may not be possible to check every single item of baggage, but maybe better searches. Once again, the PlayStation staff (well, some of them) had no idea where the queue began or ended. I'll direct to the Dreams booth, both staff members kept sending me to the other staff member as they believed they were the exit. Little bit confusing, until a 3rd said "just jump on". I fully understand that you can't get every big AAA title, it is down to the developers to decide which games to showcase at what event. Some peoples comments about this was a little extreme to say the least, but the number of smaller titles available was impressive (comments like "these should be at the Rezzed event only" and "should be AAA only, who cares about these indie games" doesn't give a fair chance for these games to be showcased). I'll give my full feedback if the opportunity arises, but none the less i was more than impressed at EGX this year. Queues seemed more managable. Fair enough, some were massive with over an hour (nearly 2 hours in places) e.g Pokemon Let's Go, Smash Brothers, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Division 2 and Destiny 2. But timing it well, you could get on within 30 minutes at most, as i did with Kingdom Hearts III (this helped going in the queue as a solo player, the staff wanted 1 more player to fill a spot and as most were in 2's, 3's or 4's and wanted to play as a group, i went ahead of about 30 people) and Assassin's Creed The extra space was worth it, as the event felt busy but not busy at the same time. And most of the staff were friendly, helpful and approachable. Even some of the indie developers were more passionate about their games than other years, and the PlayStation and Nintendo stages were as entertaining as ever. If this is the new EGX, keep it going. I'll be back next year. |

Shadow of the Tomb Raider physical sales down on Tomb Raider reboot
|
Some people remain sore from the timed exclusivity deal that Rise had with Xbox in 2015, many PS4 gamers probably didn't pick this up and are prepared to wait until a price-drop for this reason, that and the other reason being that Spider-Man released last week and sales don't show signs of slowing down yet, and there's many other games coming as well in the next few weeks (Assassin's Creed and Red Dead Redemption 2) Picked up Shadow on Friday, installed it and yet to play as i'm finishing off Spider-Man first. Didn't pay full-price as had a gift-card to knock some of the price down. |

You don't need a Nintendo Switch online subscription to keep playing Fortnite
| Free to play games like Fortnite should remain as thus, free to play. Sony and Nintendo are smart to not lock this behind a paywall (looking at you Xbox) similar to that of PC and Smartphone players. |

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered: a new lease of life for an overlooked game
|
It's a shame how this game was overlooked by many. I picked this up at the same time as Unity (thank's in part to them GAME shares that came about). It was basically more Black Flag, just based around the Colonial era that III is based in. It fills in the backstory of how Achilles became how he was in III, and it was nice to play as a Templar instead of the regular Assassin we were all used to. Personally, i preferred this to the mess that was Unity. |

Quick quick, tickets for EGX 2018 are now on sale
| Not this year for me. After the past 2 years of basically being screwed out of stuff, i'll give it a miss. Last year was a screw-up for the Splatoon tournament (ok, not the fault of EGX, but none the less it was not fair as many teams couldn't make it due to travel being promised as paid for then retracted). Year before, rude staff pushing people off games and the issue of inviting someone in who was known for his role in CSGO gambling. |

Would be tricky for people like myself, i played Control on PSNow when it was on, so the PS4 version is in my library as well as the Ultimate Edition. If refunds were issued, i might not be fortunate unless they can distinguish between PSNow versions and purchased ones.
