| Sigh. I don't care if you are a man who likes playing as a lady character, or a woman who likes playing as a gentleman, or even if you are some sort of sicko that just plays a character that has the same gender as you do IRL. I just want a cool sci-fi RPG that's like Ghost in the Shell meets Bladerunner. Can everyone whose main concern is gender identity politics please go back to Buzzfeed where you belong? That'd be great. |

24 years later, Streets of Rage is coming back with a new look
|
Oh God. How long I have wanted a new SoR. But I must not get excited. Anything could happen. Please don't be shit. Unfortunate that SEGA don't have the confidence to design it in house, but then, maybe a blessing. It took a group of modders to actually deliver the Sonic game we wanted. Hopefully the same is true here. I'm not 100% sold on the art style, something just a little off about it. Maybe it'll grow on me. Regarding characters: I'd rather see Max than Adam really. He has a different playstyle that adds variety. Adam and Axel are a bit too similar. But if they can add both I'd be happy. Skate and the Old Man Cyborg (Zan?) are unnecessary really. Skate was basically a handicap if you found the game too easy. Please be good. |

Pokémon Go Celebi research quest unlocks next week
| @Nathan-DTS I think the last time they released figures it had 5 million or so daily users. That is accounts logging in every day consistently. Far less than the summer of 2016 but still pretty healthy. It should be noted though that multi-accounting is very prevalent, so the total number of players is lower than the number of active accounts. |

Niantic targets Pokémon Go PvP by end of 2018
| Niantic intends to implement a battle system in Pokémon Go. Pokémon company removes battles from Pokémon Let's Go in favour of mobile style tap and swipe mechanics. Can we all just agree that the people who whined about the lack of battles since day one should just have bought a DS? |

Free-to-play sci-fi shooter Warframe is coming to Switch
| As someone who has been well into Warframe for a few months now I can confidently say that cross functionality could make or break this. It's great that the game is coming to Switch as it opens the game up to a lot of new players, but I think a lot of existing players would be very tempted if they could log in and use their account on a portable device. The game is such a time sink resource grind that no-one wants to start over a fresh account. Console certification delay sees the PS4 and Xbox running older versions than the PC build, if Nintendo can avoid that it would excellent. |

Meet the Warhammer property screaming out for a video game version
| @Xeall knows where its at. Additionally Necromunda would translate almost perfectly to the Firaxis XCOM template. Alas, I have always got the impression that GW is careful to license their properties for games that don't offer a direct digital alternative to the tabletop version. They are heavily invested in the miniatures sales and have a new Necromunda set. Gorkamorka has been out of production for ages though. |

Epic wants the Fortnite endgame to be more than "just build lol"
| @jabberwocky That's what Battlegrounds is for. :D To be fair, while the building mechanics are a vestigial limb left over from the original PvE Horde Fortnite which nobody wanted to play, it does give the Battle Royale a USP of its own. Whether you like it will depend on you. Personally having played a lot more Fortnite than Battlegrounds I have come to the conclusion that the building is the bit I like the least. Its just very frustrating to have the drop on someone, be in position, start tagging them with hits and they just throw up instant cover to block the kill. It reminds me of Halo Reach's armour lock ability. |

Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee is a startlingly basic reboot
Pikachu and Eevee may well serve as that bridge - which I'm sure is the intention, before the ramp up to the return of the usual mechanics in 2019's entry. But for me, as a longtime fan but also a Go addict, the games' nostalgia factor is dented by the limitations. So, as originally thought, this is not core series, and is basically a Pokémon Go add-on for the Switch. Which requires Ł330 investment to play. I'm sure Nintendo's accountants are confident there's a market for it. But its not for me. I'll wait for the RPG next year. |

We watched 50 minutes of uncut Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and interviewed CD Projekt about it
Drug taking is a part of the game, done via asthma pump-like devices.Banned or censored for Australia then. Unlucky. Probably make it on to Fox News for daring to feature some tits too. Shame. |

Additional, untitled core RPG Pokémon game coming to Switch next year
|
@Nikanoru No I actually have been putting aside money for the Switch because a new RPG (ideally gen 8) is what I want it for. I'm sure it has lots of great games, but they aren't games I want to play. I have plenty of great games on Playstation and PC, as well as my 3DS. So I'll wait until Nintendo provides a game I want and then I'll buy. Don't fret little fanboy, their bottom line will survive without me. |

Platinum is making a new game. Nice. It's a free to play mobile... and let me stop you right there. Seriously, how much longer until someone just buys Platinum up? It can't be much longer now? Just do it already Nintendo. |

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU down to its cheapest ever price for Prime members
| I hadn't planned on using the 1800X in my build, had budgeted for the 1700X. I got a deal on it at five pence more than the 1700X so figured for the sake of 5p I might as well. Just be aware it doesn't come with an AMD cooler, you need to source your own. Mine is underneath a Noctua single tower at the moment. |

PlayerUnknown on PUBG's future
Nothing is off the table - we recently removed clothing spawns from the loot system and people were saying "oh what it would take for me to remove that?" Because they thought I would never remove it.As someone who has only recently purchased PUBG this is, unfortunate to hear. I had wondered why every crate I have earned was a weapon skin Triumph crate needing a (purchased) key to access. Surely if this is the case he should have also added some clothing customisation somewhere else? How are new players supposed to customise their character now? |

Jelly Deals: Bayonetta 2 Special Edition up for pre-order

I saw that box and thought it might be a Bayonetta themed special edition Switch. I was all ready to go with the Fry meme. But its just a big box and some tat. Steelbook with two physical cartridges would be excellent mind. |

Humvee suing Activision over Call of Duty
|
They are trying to get themselves into a similar deal to that the various firearms manufacturers have. Where games companies are paying for their use in games that necessitate them for authenticity. Eurogamer had an article a while ago on the gun licensing in games. This despite the fact that any other industry would laugh their arses off at the thought of paying brands to feature their products. Michael Bay doesn't pay GM to use their Camaro as his hero car in Transformers. He tells them how many he wants for the stunt team, maybe one for himself, a few for promotional purposes. And they give them to him, free, and ask if he'd like some cocaine or a few hookers as well. If they didn't he'd simply use Fords Mustang instead. Additionally, while as a manufacturer you can own your own weapons model number, take Beretta and their 92FS. If that weapon is in military service then I'm fairly sure any game can feature it under its military designation number. In that case M9. The military designation is 'owned' by the military, and the military cannot charge the taxpayer exercising their rights in creating works of fiction for entertainment to feature that weapon or its designation as the military itself belongs to the taxpayer. This is why the M4 and AK47 are so prevalent in modern military shooters. They are designation numbers for service rifles manufactured to a design pattern by many companies for many nations. |

It's time to settle the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds blue zone debate once and for all
| Personally I think it would be cooler if it was neither a force field nor a gas cloud and instead drew inspiration from The Running Man. Passing beyond the boundary would trigger a countdown on an explosive neck collar. |

PlayStation Plus price hike announced for Europe

Destiny 2's awful turbines will be less awful when the game comes out
being a first-person shooter, platforming of any kind is, generally, awful.Titanfall 2 begs to differ. The mistake Ian made in the livestream is in trying to jump over the rotor arms. You jump to the middle platform that they rotate around, then out to the spot to blow the rotor, then jump back to the middle again and make your way around to the other one. |

Bayonetta free in August with Xbox Live Games with Gold
| @flooff I've been desperate to play it since seeing Jim Sterling livestream it. Now it's done with early access they need to port it to PS4. Niche game like that cannot afford to ignore a 60 million install base. |

The big Zelda: Breath of the Wild interview
| @BigOrkWaaagh Because Link isn't a character. He's a cypher for the player to project onto. Even his name illustrates the fact he is a 'link' between player and the games narrative. He's barely even voiced for the same reason. I mean, he isn't Master Chief or Doom Guy. But he isn't far off that. So understandably there's an argument to be made that the option for a female protagonist could be implemented. Personally I don't think that Zelda herself should be the protagonist. Rather they could just make Female Link an option. It also wouldn't require Zelda to have a masculine alternative. There's no reason a female Link can't aid/assist/rescue a female Princess Zelda. |

Pokémon Sun and Moon players fail second global event
| For the record 22 of those 661,000 are mine. More than pulled my weight despite only being on the second island. The issue is that you have to link your game to the website account via Game Synch. It's simple enough to do, but an unnecessary obstacle. Plus there is no tutorial or in game mention of why you'd want to do so. Hell some people don't even know what the island scan is or how to do it. After two events they can simply check their database for a figure of how many people have Game Synched with an account. From here on out the targets should be based upon that, not the number of copies shipped. |
