@Return-of-Jafar It had the potential to be the very best BF experience, but they they just completely fucked it up. It was released at least six months before it was ready, every patch broke something else, and it's taken them far too long to release new content. For me it really was the final nail in the coffin: I'm never buying another EA game at launch, because they intentionally release them half-baked. From a consumers point of view it makes sense to wait a year or more until they've actually got it where it was supposed to be at launch and buy at a 75% discount. The downside is that they may just abandon the game if it doesn't meet sales expectations, creating a vicious cycle of sorts. |

I don't think people genuinely remember how hard you had to work to do anything in the beginning. If you wanted to do a Dungeon you had to first assemble a group, then everyone had to slow travel to the location, and inevitably there was always someone who was "just finishing this quest" and after waiting ages for the guy, he'd then have to log off, and one of you had to travel back to a city to look for a replacement and then slow travel back to the Dungeon. Usually someone also wouldn't have the flight path opened, so they had to run to the place on foot, again taking ages. If you were lucky, you had a Warlock who could open a summoning portal once most of the group had traveled there. If they had the spell that is, because you had to buy spells from the trainer and everyone was dirt poor. It was still great, but that was then. |

The Ultimate year: 12 months that forged a legend
| I have fond memories of playing all of these except Lunar Jetman. I don't think Speccy games were available here at all back then, we had to wait for a relative or parent to travel to the UK to get out hands on them. Puts a bit of perspective on some people these days going apeshit when their preorders don't arrive before the street date... |

Bungie pledges huge lists of Destiny 2 improvements, will rein in Eververse
|
Sorry, but no. Bungie ran out of goodwill around the time we discovered they were "accidentally" giving people reduced XP and thus fewer Loot Boxes. Or maybe when they shut their customers out of content they had already paid for when the "expansion" arrived. The only thing that could bring me back at this point is major improvements and A FREE SEASON PASS. Because there's no fucking way I'm trusting these people with my money anymore. |

Is it too late to start playing Hearthstone?
|
@hairy_yan There are decksthat work at the highest level, and require no Legendary cards. Midrange Hunter for example has been a top tier deck for months and months and only really requires a few Rare cards, and some cards from the Naxx adventure (yes, I know it's better with Dr.Boom in it, but can absolutely be taken to Legend rank without one). Eventually the real barrier will not be crafted Legendaries, but the Adventures, since at 700 gold per wing, they're quite slow to unlock as F2P. |

Hearthstone: The Grand Tournament expansion release date
|
@Duffking Feels like the Hunter deck exists only to (potentially) show off the "Lock and Load" cards. Absolutely no other reason to put in all those crappy cheap spells like Arcane Shot and Tracking. Of course, if you don't draw your Lock and Loads, the deck falls apart. And well, if you do, it's still just shit, because the random cards you get usually aren't that good. |

You people need to realise that this was just the District Court. Their verdicts can be a bit odd, since they rarely have the expertise to deal with anything unusual. If the prosecutor or the defendant is unhappy with the verdict, it'll pretty much automatically go up to the Court of Appeals, which are usually better equipped to deal with the more difficult cases. And after that there's the Supreme Court, and I can see a case like (being the first major cybercrime case in the country?) this going all the way up. ... and the Supreme Court can actually send a case back to the District Court if it finds in was mishandled there, restarting the entire cycle. |

Blizzard nerfs Hearthstone's most overpowered card
|
@spamdangled Do you even play the game? Most of your "answers" are horrible. Some don't work at all, some are too slow, some solve half the problem while giving your opponent the board as well as card advantage. For example, Polymorph? If you spend turn 4 sheeping an Undertaker, you've already lost, because a.) you've probably already taken too much damage to turn the game around later and b.) that puts nothing on board. Or Equality? You need a minion on board to use that, which any sane player will have removed. Fact is, the only thing that can reliably kill a turn one Undertaker is a 2-mana, 3 damage spell, Coined out if you're going second. Not all classes have one, and even if you do, if it's not in your opening hand, you're probably dead (against a Hunter anyway). It's really much, much better for the game that you don't have to build every deck around a potential Turn 1 Undertaker. |

Ubisoft details The Crew's Ł20 Season Pass
|
But people! Don't you understand that it's only fair to have to pay for DLC because it costs them money to continue developing the game after launch so they can give us more great content in the form of... a bunch of... cars? Actually, this is just as bad if not worse than Horse Armour. PS. And Farcry 4 is the same... just a few missions and an area chopped off so they can sell it to us (read: idiots) for some more money. |

Tiny vs Big: In praise of Titanfall's smart pistol

Pretty sure it'll get changed, so enjoy it while it lasts. 1. You can use it from stealth to get instant kills on players 2. There is no locking-on warning for the targeted player They'll either add a counter of some kind (warning sound and ECM?), or make it take much longer to lock on if you're in stealth / make you lose stealth and appear on the minimap as soon as you start locking on. |

This is an unboxing of Valve's Steam Machine prototype
|
@George-Roper They will not be able to compete with the Ps4 or XBO on value, simply because third-parties will need to make a decent profit on each machine sold. Unlike Sony / MS they won't get a cut of the software sales (but Valve will). Valve needs to step in and carry some of the risk: at the moment it seems to be a case of "here, we made a prototype, now it's up to you to take a risk on this hardware, and we'll make money on the software if you happen to succeed". |

In praise of early adopters
|
@Canyarion Especially since saving that 50e comes at a cost: fewer third-party titles. So while waiting until the price drops might be beneficial in the short term, it might actually be bad for you in the long term. I view buying at launch as a kind of expression of trust: I buy their console, and in turn they make sure there are games for me to play on it for years to come. |

Xbox One timed-exclusive PVZ: Garden Warfare rated for PS4
|
@Markitron We have no idea how much MS paid for full exclusivity (based on what the devs said it *was* supposed to be a timed exclusive at first). EA might have made a nice deal for themselves. But I digress. This game looks dire, so who cares what it comes out on. |

Need for Speed: Rivals now a PS4 launch title in North America

People are reading far too much into this. It's simple: a launch title will sell more than one that's released a week later, because people will always buy a game or three to go with their console on launch day. |

Valve shows off a Steam Machine prototype
|
So... it's basically a game console, but: No one is producing them yet, and hasn't said they will. Valve won't. There are no games yet (they need to me made for/ported to SteamOS, right?), but Valve is "talking with developers". Three years then? Or more? |

The thrills and disappointments of the Battlefield 4 beta
|
Please remember: it's a Beta. Not a demo. Of course it'll be laggy and buggy, and it's not there to convince you to buy the game. It's there to help them achieve a smoother launch (and maybe find out and fix any potentially very badly broken or over- or underpowered stuff). That said, I was amazed at how much some people played BF3 beta, considering how (relatively) crap Metro Rush was. |

Grand Theft Auto 5 review
|
Sounds like it got -1 because the reviewer didn't like Trevor. Probably the first time Edge gives something a ten and Eurogamer "only" a 9? GTA4 was overrated / overhyped in my opinion. Too technically flawed (on the Ps3 at least) and the pacing was pretty bad. Didn't stop me from playing it of course (but I could never manage a replay despite trying several times). Then again like someone already pointed out, scores won't affect sales on this one (unless everyone gave it a 7 or less). |
