The mod that kept S.T.A.L.K.E.R. alive

Fallout

@mega-gazz I dont think its aged badly, but theres pleanty of mod packs to tailor the game if needed (i think unmodded is best for first play).
Just make sure you play on the hardest difficulty.
SoC is the best one to start with but if you really cant get into it skipping to CoP would be worth a try before you give up, its a bit easier to get into.

Another reason its kept alive is the lack of any single player fps thats better. In fact most are a massive downgrade.

Riot blames Brexit for 20% League of Legends in-game currency price hike

Fallout

@Wayne Awful example, but you know that, its all about the context.
Its like reporting a terrorist attack as "people die", you rob it of its urgency. Just saying the pound is weak would rob the situation of its cause, reporting tends to rely heavily on context to make sense of whats happening, its part of its duty to the reader.

Destiny 2 PC exclusive to Blizzard's Battle.net

I don't really mind non-blizz games being added to Battle.net, but I do sort of think of it as a higher quality place so I hope they don't just dump every Activision game on it.

Persona 5's translation is a black mark on a brilliant game

Fallout

I think the translation is fine, a few lines jarr, but they made up a minute or two of a 95 hour game.

Personally i prefer the rougher but closer to the original translation over the 4kids trash this guy thinks is perfection.

Persona 5 is series' biggest launch to date

Fallout

Absurdly good game, put 35 hours in since release which is basically all my free time, skipping the gym and everything.

Spent 3 hours Saturday morning lying in bed playing it, which is the first in years (maybe even a decade) I've actually lay in bed playing a game right after waking up.

Good thing its a bank holiday weekend coming up.

Blizzard explains surprise enemy gear-scaling in World of Warcraft as community fumes

Fallout

Basically the people in charge of balancing cant even keep players in tune with static mobs anymore.
Blizzard really need to get some more experience on board in relation to game balancing, pretty much all their games suffer in that regard.

How Dawn of War 3 uses MOBAs to modernise multiplayer RTS

Fallout

Relic pains me by comparing this to Moba when the WC3 influence is so obvious in the gameplay, I suppose its to appeal to the wider market.

As for the multiplayer modes, it sounds pretty fun actually, it kind makes me more excited because I sort of fell out of love with the standard online RTS, but they are dumb not to launch with a more normal mode to give people options at least.

Nintendo Switch review

Fallout

Owned every Nintendo console since the Gameboy, but this one will have to wait for me.

Just seems so overpriced for what it is, only 3 games the entire first year, and one of them I can play on the Wii U.

No thanks.

Fallout

@Wyrm Probably violates ToS sure, but thats not really important.
If you own the game you own the game.

Its also not fee-dodging, since Blizzard don't actually want to take your money for this, they don't provide the service anymore.

What Skyrim had that Fallout 4 lost

Fallout

I agree Fallout 4 was just disapoi ting, they removed too much of the RPG elements and it gas me worried about the next YES game.

But it seems like in the comments Skyrim is getting let off for its major sins, Guilds were gutted and unsatisfactory, the overworld was heavily underutilised (every quest jusr lead to a dungeon), and the questing overall just felt like a massive step down from Oblivion.

Also itemisation and loot was kinda weak, though it was never that strong to begin with in tes, but they missed a good chance to make decent, id love them to go with a diablo style approach, imagine how much more replayability you could throw into Skyrim if those radiant quest end bosses had a chance to drop some awesome legendary with a unique affix, or gear sets with bonuses.

Legion finds World of Warcraft in the rudest possible health

Fallout

I quit about mid way through wrath, i usually play the new expansion launch then quit about a day after hitting max level because of boredom (Ive done all this before ect).
But with Legion im still having fun and logging in for a few hours every day, its a solid and suprising expansion, id say its worth trying for any older players, not as good as vanilla/bc, but close to or better than wotlk.

Blizzard closes popular vanilla World of Warcraft pirate servers

Fallout

Just started playing this a month ago as well after finally hoping it was a stable place worth investing time.

For fucks sake Blizzard, I want to play WoW Vanilla, I want to run Scholo/UBRS/BWL/AQ, I want to take 3 months to hit the level cap, I want to spend 5 hours running around between Redridge and Westfall, I want to not be able to afford a mount, and I have been doing some of this already and Im having a blast.
I will even pay you money to do so.

And fuck off with the 'rose tinted glasses' shit, 150k people were playing it right now, it it was bad or just nostalgia they'd not be playing.

Oculus Rift costs 500

Fallout

I don't think the price is too bad to be honest, but I think it'll have a lot of issues that will be fixed in a version released a year or two later.

But if it turns out to work really well and has game support, I wouldn't be put off by the price tag, just don't leave the house for 2 months and VR pretend you have then the cost is covered.

Watch: Should games be made about 9/11?

Fallout

How many games are set in Stalingrad? Close to 2 million people died in that battle alone, and a significant portion of these were the hundreds of thousands of civilians that lived in the city.

But I don't think it matters much, the event has very limited scope for games anyway.

Fallout

Not sure if this is good or bad news, obviously KB&M lets you have a lot more control options, but if they don't use any of them it makes no difference.

Though it should result in a much better UI, not some oversized crap like EU, it doesn't take half my screen to tell me I have an x% chance of hitting and 5 other combat options.

Hearthstone and Diablo make up for World of Warcraft subscriber slide

Fallout

They pretty much have gutted the game of choice.

You used to be able to choose where to quest, what end game zone to do, plenty of diverse dungeons, tiered raids to work up, talents.
Everythings just being homogenized, patches come with almost no content at an absurdly slow pace, half of an expansions life is just left to rot.

Vanilla had about 8 high level zones, TBC had 2, WotlK had 2, Cataclysm had 1, Pandaria had 1, WoD had 0, I'm not sure they've even released it yet, I feel like that says it all. Daily Hubs are just shit. You usually only have one quest chain through a zone as well, and if you miss something chains will just stop.

I would question if you played, it would be quite hard to miss 14 one day exceptions over a few months.

Then again in Vanilla an hour of downtime seemed to net a day of compensation so maybe we should get a free month or something for real service.
