The BBC eventually did show interest, but pulled support at "the very last minute" because it was deemed, again, "way too niche".

The BBC have become fucking idiots in regard to programme making decisions and funding. They should definitely go make some more "Snog Marry Avoid?" Oh, they already have. o_O

Edit: I'm surprised BBC Four didn't jump at the chance to help produce this.

@marmaduke "I play almost all my games on PC these days, but why should PC players get exclusive content? If it hadn't been a success on consoles there wouldn't even be PC version."

I meant the PC version should get exclusive content or performance/texture improvement to encourage people who already have a copy on PS3/Xbox 360 to perhaps buy it again for PC. There is little incentive for anyone with a console copy to buy a PC copy here. I'm just talking about how FROM could have improved PC sales, but I suppose they'll make a bucket when that exclusive PC content is released as DLC on the consoles later.

Edit: I, personally, would have bought another copy for PC just to play Blighttown above 20 FPS. If it had improved performance over the console versions, which apparently, it doesn't due to straight port and time constraints meaning it performs about the same as the console versions. It's not worse as some people are saying. Just, about the same.

I hope from the PC version that FROM will be encouraged by the PC community to release their spirtual sequel to Dark Souls with a dedicated PC version alongside the console releases next time.

@Lyserberg

I agree.

They also kind of shot themselves in the foot by saying the extra PC content is being released on the consoles shortly afterwards. They shouldn't have revealed that until after the PC release (sneaky). :D

But yeah, with no or little improvement over the console versions, there is little point buying it again if you already own a version on the console, especially as mentioned with the extra PC content coming to the consoles this autumn as DLC. However pure PC gamers or people who don't currently own a copy should definitely buy it whether that be Xbox, PS3 or PC.

They really should have produced some new, PC-only content.

I have no idea if this will be supported by the PC mod community, but that could be a reason to purchase an additional copy of DS for PC (for people already owning a console version.)

Another good reason for buying the PC version is to support FROM SOFTWARE, who are awesome. And have produced, possibly one of the best games in the last decade :D

"The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dark Souls forbade voice chat."

er... well for two player co-op at least (on Xbox) private chat is allowed.

Anyway, even with this built-in, most people will just use mumble.

Edit: suppose it's good for random co-op encounters, but this may take something away from the soapsign floor messages and haven't they included in-game character voice pots or something?

Edit: Cheers Bertie for the article edit.

EA: Origin won't copy Steam 75% off sales

Facepalm

Steam sales open up a new audience to your game. Not everyone has the money to buy all the games they want at full price in the year.

Steam sales in no way ever cheapen the content, quality or months/years of hard developer work put into them. Many of the games sold in steam sales have already made millions anyway and sales at full price have completely tailed off. I personally think at that stage it's best to get your game out to as many other people as possible. If it is a good game they enjoy then they are very possibly going to invest in sequels for that game at full price next time or other games from the same developer at full price at a later date. Steam sales work both ways. They are a big thankyou to the gamers and an investment for developers/publishers to get their work out to as many people as possible. Which can only be a good thing.

Quality and how good a game is has never and will never have anything to do with how much it costs. What this really is about is EA and their own greed.

This kind of game rushing reminds me of the guy on Man v Food downing 28 hotdogs or a "sink" of icecream. Just because he can, definitely doesn't mean he should.

I agree. It does seem strange forcing people to pay for a TV licence for BBC services I imagine many people don't even bother watching/using. It always surprised me the BBC has never turned to adverts for "extra funding" :D

It wouldn't actually bother me, if they used the extra to fund more projects, make some decent tv, stop sacking staff and closing departments and increasing their repeat rate by 64% due to lack of new programmes. Potentially going commercial could improve the BBC, but the uproar from the public and the bollocks I'm now talking I'm going to shut up.

BSkyB is a subscribe service too, it also doesn't stop them running adverts between and in-between programmes and between their films/sports. And that's £60+ per month.

Perhaps if the xbox ads were optional with having the ads on = 50% sub discount. Of course, it won't ;P
