Not a big fan of modern Blizzard, but I read the Warcraft 2 manual over and over again as a kid. His artwork in that was amazing.

@pigsy2400 I have yet to play anything on a smartphone which interests me for more than a few hours. I don't really use it for gaming, wheras I take my 3DS everywhere. Same applies to a tablet, I just don't like using it for gaming.

I may be an edge case however.

Nier is the rare game that gets better with age

Evolution

@Beva78 I can't argue that Drakengard had good gameplay, but it was a crazy and unique world which always intruiged me. I've always wanted to play Nier, it does sound like it has a similar spirit.

The Walking Dead: No Going Back review

Evolution

@Setaro

I had a lot of time for Kenny, but how many times do you defend someone? His actions are always extreme, especially to what Jane did.

They were both doing what they thought had to be done, but I felt I could trust Jane's motivations. Kenny had become so Jekyll and Hyde, I could never be sure with him, even though I really wanted to.

Excellent episode in any case :)

Blizzard dev apologises for "poor response" to female character design question

Evolution

@vojtas I think it's something that some developers could take a moment to think about. It's largely taken for granted that female avatars should be sexy and wear revealing outfits. If no one challenges that view then nothing ever changes. The initial response, whilst given on the spot, would seem to suggest that it's something that was just done because it was the normal thing to do.

I played SC2 and my girlfriend and I laughed off the Kerrigan heels, and the camera shots of her ass, as if it was something we should take for granted. Should we not aim for something less crass? I'm not saying I am above such things, I'm not, but at the same time I am not a teenager anymore and enjoy a bit more depth. A large percentage of gamers are above 21, so the economics could justify it.

These things are not mutually exclusive, you can find trash and treasure in other media, and long may they do so. It would be nice though if people didn't shout down anyone who happens to ask uncomfortable questions.

Obsidian always seem to add something for me that makes an RPG that much more interesting. Sure they get a lot of stick for bugs, some of it justified, but whether it's the interesting characters or their take on rpg tropes, I enjoy their games immensely.

I can't even remember how many times I must have played through Kotor 2, but it captivated me in a way that the first game didn't. It's a shame that Obsidian never got the chance to finish where they were going with the story, but I look forward to anything they put out.

Kudos to the modders for putting everything together!

Drakengard 3 gets a debut trailer

Evolution

@MrDurandPierre, the first was indeed the most fascinating, and a massive chore to play. I've always found it interesting how far they twisted the genre though. Every single character (with the possible exception of Seere) has something very wrong about them, each new ending you get is increasingly dark and twisted, and the final 5th ending is just... bizarre. Unlocking it is also the hardest and least rewarding thing I've ever done.

The second one definitely plays a lot better, but is about 50% less crazy/interesting.

I would be interested to try Nier at some point.

Always loved Kotor 2, despite the flaws. It always felt like a much more interesting take on the Star Wars universe, and the characters, Kreia in particular, were light years ahead of Carth "I don't trust anyone" Onasi.

They certainly get the "role playing" part of the game right every time.
