US prices are almost always quoted without sales tax, with varies from state to state. Even on the shelf in a shop in the state you're in, which is really annoying... Try buying a 50 cent bar of chocolate from a supermarket, and you'll usually end up paying 54 cents at the till. Some places will specifically say "Inclusive of XXX state sales tax", which is nice. |

Has the Art World Finally Fallen for Video Games?
Hrm... This isn't the first "Major gallery" that games have features in. The Science Museum in London had an exhibit on games a few years ago. It was pretty good too |

"There were also some great biomods like the nanobot spy drone that you could use to scout an area before piloting it up a military bot's rear end and letting it dissipate in an EMP blast. " Pretty sure that was in the first one too. |

"LOL @ Destria! You know about this thing called the Internet? I've got all my NES and SEGA favourites in a 200MB folder on my laptop (saves take up most of the space) " Intriguing.... tell me more of this "internet" of which you speak. And how I can possibly emulate this ability to play NES and SEGA games on a laptop. |

Mass Effect 2 patched on 360
That's what the probing reminded me of! Star control! Though Starcon was more fun, as you could zap aliens and harvest them. Plus you knew where the minerals were. And dodging quakes and hotspots was fun. And when you stumble into some random thing because you could never be arsed to scan for energy and didn't know it was there. |

That interchange between Burzum and George Roper has to be one of the most retarded things I've seen in a while, with the source of retardation being quite apparent from Burzum. The "insecure 360 owner" comment, and placing somebody who disagrees with him on ignore kinda seals it. /is in danger of getting sucked into a flame war. |

Deus Ex 3 announced
"How involved was Spector in the frist game? As I recall he was concentrating on Daikatana (bloody terrible) at the time and Deus Ex sprung from no where, or at least another team at the same company. I'm hoping a team of developers who were fans of the original could really make an amazing game (ala Tomb Raider: Legend). " You're thinking of John Romero. He was the Daikatana guy. Warren Spector was in charge of that other team at the same company (based in a different city. Austin to Romero's Dallas). |

To all those talking about RPGs not working in first person, I present to you the following exhibits: Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 System Shock 1 and 2 Deus Ex Sure there's plenty of others, but these ones spring to mind (though no doubt some will argue how they're not RPGs... the definiton of what an RPG is is pretty open to debate too). They're also Looking Glass (or ex-LG, in the case of Deus Ex) games, and Emil Pagliarulo is ex-Looking Glass |

Wii profitable from day one
I think the DVD issue is simply that it is so ubiquitous and so cheap to implement, its hard to see why you would leave it out. But, again, if most of you customers wont use it and you can shave off $5 per unit, then why not? I think it's actually a licensing issue more than anything. It's not the technology that would put the cost up, it's licensing. You have to pay X amount to somebody if your device plays DVDs |

Yarnton promises 'biggest ever launch' for Wii
The difference with UK sales tax to the rest of the world is that prices in the UK are always quoted inclusive of VAT. That price of £179 is what you'll pay. I can't speak for Japan and the rest of the EU, but certainly in the US the quoted price does NOT include sales tax (which is annoying when you buy stuff there, as the total at the till is always more than the price on the box). Admittedly the tax is less than 17.5%, but it does redude the price difference somewhat |

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Oi. Wasn't The Magician's Nephew the first book? I suppose it depends on your definition of 'First' I guess. I think Messr Lewis may have written The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe first, and went all Lucas and did prequels (well, one) and sequels. If this was the intended usage, I apologise. Good books though |
