SWTOR won't launch unless "it's solid"

Darkbeat

The launch plans for this game is so... Weird.
I wonder if it'll be one of those things where they'll keep the launch a surprise right up until the date. "Hey guys here's a batch of new screenshots and a trailer... oh yeah, the game comes out tomorrow. Have a nice weekend"

Retrospective: Urban Champion

Darkbeat

Oh man, kids of a certain generation simply don't understand!
They might be all retro-y and act like games that came out before they were born were much cooler and had the quality and craft of Legend of Zelda or Sonic the Hedgehog, but there was just so much crap you had to take a chance on buying back then because we didn't have the internet or could afford magazines as kids because we had to save up for our games.
So we went to the game store and came home with the most TERRIBLE games because we thought "Dynamite Headdy looks childish. I'll buy Shaq-Fu instead because he's a cool basketball dude what who fights mummies and stuff", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? This is probably the same as the arcade game! Sweet!", "Oh I remember Street Fighter II from the Arcade! Let me just buy it for my Commodore 64" or "Urban Champion? That sounds edgy!"

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles

Darkbeat

I like the Warriors games a lot, but they have pretty much always been "Madden with Asians"; a series that don't really ever change that much, but that it's core fanbase (like me) still will want. Even though I like them so much, I don't think I'd ever rate any of them higher than an 8 and maybe hit Sengoku Basara with a 9, but that's exactly because of Capcom is better at pacing their game than Koei.

The Future of PlayStation Move

Darkbeat

That headtracking thing in the Puppet Demo is what could actually be a great sort of 3D effect. If you sit in your couch, playing a FPS, you can sort of skewer the view a bit by tilting left and right which would give a great sense of depth. I don't know if the precision suffers when you can only use one Move controller (the other has to be a nunchuck to move around the game world obviously). The speed of which it calculates the position of your head could be related to the position of your Move "bulb"

Special Edition

Darkbeat

I love getting a little extra figure and stuff in special editions.
What I don't like are "special editions" that have in game unlocks such as incredibly imbalanced special weapons, items or henchmen (looking at you Godfather II) or "gold weapons" for multiplayer. There is nothing uglier on this earth than a gold Ak 47. In other instances like Mass Effect II and Assassin's Creed 2, the lack of content you'd get from NOT buying the special edition (like extra missions) is worrying me. I get that they are trying to keep places like Gamestop to profit off pre-owned games but what happens in 5-10 years when you wanna replay that classic game but can't access half the content because you don't have a code for it?
The new Splinter Cell game has an ENTIRE GAMEMODE cut from the regular edition... What's up with that??

Wii gets full-size exercise bike

Guys it's not even April 1st yet! D:

Aaand I'll wait for Wii chain. A piece of white chain that you use to connect the two Wii-motes together sweet nunchuck action. Will not ACTUALLY come with any real fighting game but instead be bundled with Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo '10 at a low cost of 50 quid.

Pricing On Demand

Darkbeat

From a collectors perspective it is also much preferred to have an actual physical copy of the game rather than just a downloaded copy. While I realize that collectors aren't the major driving force of the player base, it's still something to factor in, in my opinion.

About the boss thing you need to tell Sheva to attack by holding B and selecting Attack from the menu.

Regarding the whole thing with the imagery of the black savage man I think it's not that far off... Don't get me wrong. I don't think they are animals that attack white people on sight but it would seem obvious that the uninfected still are Majini affiliates... And remember that people are pretty poor in Africa. Just remember the whole gas explosion thing that happened in Kenya a few weeks ago because an entire village rushed an overturned tanker truck to get free gasoline.

There should be a new, stronger word for killing... Like... bad-wrong or baddong. Yes! From this day forward I will stand for the opposite of baddong: gnoddab.

Valkyria Chronicles

Saying that I'm looking forward to this would be an understatement... I've been looking forward to it since it was announced at TGS '07. I can understand that there are a few snags with the AI and you can't exploit the cover as well as you'd like, but I still think it's the best SRPG that's been released in a long long time.

*Edit* On another note, I've played the shite out of the demo... So much in fact that I made a speedrun video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-gXcJKsiDI

It's hard to grasp what you mean when you talk about how the player is rewarded for their every action and they cannot die in combat. I'm still getting it though and am excited to play it, but the way you present it makes it sound like the Special Olympics (but with fun)

Well this sound interesting. I kinda want this now.
I used to be a tracker musician... Well.. I still think I am even though I haven't made anything in a year, but for the last 17 years I've been fiddling with Fasttracker II and then moved on to Sk@le tracker.
Back on the Amiga, part of the fun was the limitations. You only had 4 tracks available and a limited amount of memory to make your music but still people were able to make amazing stuff. After PC's started to be able to handle bigger memory and the MP3 format finally came along, the scene kinda died out. There are still artists making music.
The most recent game in my memory to feature tracker music is the original Unreal Tournament back in 1999.

Here is some of my music. Granted it's not very good but please take a listen if you feel like it:

Well... I've jumped on the hype wagon myself. I hope that it will turn out to be similar to the old games and while I expect a lot of kids to jump on because they think it's Halo with nukes, I am looking very much forward to it for it's other bits... The RPG parts and the game world.

This is just typical "Hey guys! Let's just rush it out the door. Most Wii owners don't know what a game looks like anyway! HAHAHA!".
I heard the PS2 version have similar bugs and levels removed all together from it. This was like the same kind of disappointment I felt as a kid when you were looking at this Amiga game that looked super badass but you had to get the Commodore 64 version of it which looked horrible.

Well according to the Mayan calendar the world ends in 2012... or more, well, something happens. The Mayan calendar only runs until 2012 and the obvious assumption is naturally that it's because there wont be need for a calendar when the world is over anyway... or maybe thats just when Duke Nukem Forever comes out.

*EDIT* Aw... Fallen Angel beat me to it xD

"nor can you bring out the sword to finish off an enemy in the gunning sections."

Actually you can. Theres a "Tanto" attack you can do at enemies by juggeling the nunchuck at enemies up close. Unfortunatly you may only be close enough for a nano second and might have you reloading instead if your not in melee range... so its easier to just pop em.
