Fortnite is adding the sword from Infinity Blade, and changing its map again

Am I the only one who hates when companies add items from other games? I know it's optional, but like Links armour set in Skyrim, total immersion breaker for me.

The human cost of Red Dead Redemption 2

Daeltaja

Terrible practise, but let's be honest, if you go to work for Rockstar, you know what you're getting into. Even if you thought "hey, it can't be that bad..." and turned it out is, hand in your notice and get out. It's not a prison, nor is it the be-all-and-end-all to your games career.

Quite a massive (and surprising) resolution difference between the OneX and Pro in the screenshots. Bit jealous to be honest, especially considering I just bought a Pro, but then I've no interest in Microsoft's 1st party output... can't have it all!

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is on sale and early adopters are not happy

Daeltaja

I don't understand why people complain about these things. It was your decision to pay full price at launch. Was it worth full price? That's the question you need to ask. Does a reduced price affect your enjoyment of the game?

In any case, this is business. Clearly sales were down so they took the decision to drop the price. Hardly rocket science.

Nintendo to launch updated Switch next year - report

Daeltaja

Not sure why people want a thinner console... It's perfect. They'd have to shrink the Joycons too which are already a little on the thin side.

I'd take less bezel on the screen and OLED to be able to see the damn screen in light without staring at myself. Obviously a better battery would be appreciated, and a less flimsy kickstand... and Bluetooth support for headphones. Ohoh, they should move the charging port to the top, too.

Dead Cells' glorious confidence trick

Daeltaja

Bizzare that this didn't get an Essential from EG. It's side-scrolling, roguelike perfection. Tell me one other 2D game where the combat feels this crisp and rewarding? The feedback is so on point and one its greatest achievements is that they actually managed to nail this across all of the different weapon types. I may have some favourites, but each feels useful and satisfying in its own way.

The movement... Like a knife through butter. I can jump and dodge-roll over a projectile and land exactly where I want, with pixel precision. It's flawless. I often get into "the zone" and find myself zipping around like a possessed ninja, jumping, rolling, ground smashing my way through large chunks of levels, butchering enemies before I can see them and it leaves me exhilarated.

The game structure is also a masterclass in design, I could talk about it for hours.

Dead Cells "game feel" is the new standard bearer for 2D action games. I must say the Switch is the perfect platform for it, being able to pick it up at anytime and play immediately has given me way more time with the game that I would have had otherwise.
