GOTY for me too so far. On PC the performance was a big issue, but they're ironing out stuff fast. Will be paying another Ł15 to get it on the Xbox One later, just to give them a bit of extra cash and save me from lugging my ass upstairs to play it.

I'm utterly captivated by it, it's supremely satisfying and relaxing to plug idly away at, I must have put a good fifty hours in so far and I still can't wait to load it up and continue on whenever I can. If anything, I'm betting future updates will make the gameplay and its growing systems even better and more rewarding. One of my faves of the year, easily. The fact that you didn't play it at launch negates any opinion you have on the hate it got.The reason for the hate was the lies. The game we got was not the game that was promised. If someone who wasn't into it before launch buys it after this new update enjoys it, then good for you.

I think people are missing the point of this. Its not going to be mass market appealer. Its for idiots with more money than sense. The point of making it is that the R&D involved leads to better, cheaper components for everyone else. Its also a little like a Veyron. Just making it is the point, not selling it.

I'm all for honouring heroes, but some guy who happened to say he was looking forward to a game then gets himself killed over a motorbike is called a hero? Courageous maybe, and probably rightly missed by lots of people, but a hero? Not by my reckoning. Blizzard are of course free to honour whoever the hell they like for whatever reason. But I think its a little distasteful of EG to put this up when its the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. Those were real heroes. On both sides.

@MilkYMoO You could well be right, there. But I do remember thinking the 360 was sold on HD quality (720 or 1080) promises, which it mostly failed on. And now the 360 is being sold on HD quality, and still failing on it. Well, maybe not failing, but doing the absolute bare minimum HD they can get away with.

Really love how the 360 was sold on the promise of 1080p60 but never managed it (on most titles), then the One was sold on the promise of 1080p60 and hasnt managed it (again on most titles) and a year on from release they're trying to sell the same machine with slightly increased specs on 4K? Best FF game...? Possibly actually. VII was the one that got me into FF and games in general, it completely changed my view on what gaming could be. X was my favorite for years after it's release, but VII, VIII and IX will always be my rose tinted faves. But I think you're right, FF XII was the one that did loads new and got everything right. Looking forward to the PC remake if it ever happens.

Here's the first trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Daddy-Doom-Bar

During the first part of the trailer, I was all like, meh- same old shit. Then he got in a ship and went into space and I was all intrigued. I got actually interested in a COD game, something I've not done since BO. Then there were explosions. In a vacuum. And fire. Fire...with no oxygen. Then I forgot any interest. Its not that its unrealistic, its just it reminds me that COD is still about one thing - big bangs. All bang and no brains. That's me out.

Epic boss accuses Microsoft of trying to "monopolise game development on PC"

Daddy-Doom-Bar

Firstly - there's no point complaining about MS's wanting to dominate all. They used to with Windows, still do to an extent, but other open OS's have taken a massive share of their business away from them. You can't really blame a massive global company for trying to keep a hold of those profits. Thinking a massive company like MS cares about anything other than money is foolish.

Secondly - Apple have destroyed how things were for ever. Apple is the best thing to ever happen to the business; their greed and monopolization has made other companies sit up and take notice and try to take back the business they stole. The only way to do that is with open platforms that give consumers and content makers the freedom they need. People will bail on Apple soon enough, it's taken longer than I'd hoped, but it will happen. MS have seen what Apple have done and with money being the only thing on their minds they've tried to ape them. They'll go down along with Apple for being out for a quick buck. Apple will still come out on top with the billions they've made, but MS could well go down the pan if they don't change their views. And quick.

Thirdly - if MS is so bad at doing this, it will fail. Just publish on Steam or anywhere else for that matter and get over it.

@mega-gazz They are. It's the framerate issues that the worst. There's no need for the rates to drop, it's mostly completely random. They drop a little during big destruction scenes with a lot going on, which you'd expect. But my pc is above the recommended and it's 25fps at best with everything on low or off. Piss poor optimisation. Even DICE got out one of the best optimised games ever released on time. And that's from the Battlefield devs. If they can do it, why can't Avalanche?

Steam to receive its first AO-rated game in June

Daddy-Doom-Bar

I don't get it. I mean, it looks pretty good for an indie game, but I don't get the point of the gameplay. Why are we supposed to be killing innocents? I got it in CoD, even though I didn't like it. But this? Seems senseless to me.
Like others have said, it's not something I'd buy, but I see why it needs to exist.
It's a shame people don't kick off like this when a game is simply shit, rather than being controversial.

I'm all for talented modders getting money for their creations, some of the stuff on there should really be paid for, but it should be up to the developers to pick these people out and add their stuff to the game in paid for DLC.
