Halo 3: ODST was Bungie's grand experiment that paved the way for Destiny

CharlieStCloud

I know this is an unpopular opinion however, Halo 3 ODST, after feeling a little bit tired of the usual Halo formula, was a breath of fresh air in that you couldn't play this game like when you were the Master Chief, shooting anything that moves with little consequence.

Because of the fundamental difference in the style of gameplay, which I thought was a brave decision at the time, as well as including probably the best thing that has ever happened to the Halo series, the brilliance that is Firefight, Halo 3 ODST remains, to this day, my favourite Halo game.

I hope we see something like this again somewhere down the line.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze review

CharlieStCloud

I may well get moaned at for saying this, but doesn't anyone else think Nintendo have produced one too many platforming games for the Wii U?

... a 2D Mario (as well as a sizeable 2D Luigi 'add-on'), a GLORIOUS 3D Mario and now this, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

Oh, and not forgetting Rayman Legends last summer too.

I am all platform'ed out to be honest!

What to make of flOw and Flower on PS4?

CharlieStCloud

If Bluepoint Games are kindly allowed to give Journey the same treatment as they have whimsically done with flOw and Flower, I would - without hesitation - not only buy a PlayStation 4, but I'd die a very happy man indeed.

Games of 2013: Super Mario 3D World

CharlieStCloud

I already know I may well be neg'ed for saying this, but Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the more cohesive and - arguably - imaginatively joyful game between the two.

... kind of wish you could play around on some of the courses without the timer ticking forever down too.

Still, Super Mario 3D World is one of the top, top highlights of this year anyway!

"We looked at all the things we'd done in the past," he said. Letter from America

CharlieStCloud

It is a strange one.

For me, when I read opinion pieces on the characters in Grand Theft Auto V, especially Trevor, I feel like I already dislike them and the choice(s) they make however, upon playing the game, all the pre-negative vibes I once had about them - just by purely reading an article or a review for the game itself - had vanished in an instant!

... I love all three characters in their own ways.

While Vice City will always hold a special place in my heart, Grand Theft Auto V is an absolutely astounding achievement and we should be celebrating this.
