Great video. I find both presenters to be pretty charismatic and nice too look at :). And the horses made me cringe...

The Digital Foundry 2015 graphics card upgrade guide

Another very happy 980 owner here. It's amazing how cool and quiet that card runs. After the current VRAM-controversy about the 970 (which this article never mentions), I'm glad to have chosen the 980 over the 970.

The man you've killed the most

BrokenSymmetry

It was his voice that made Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time as charming as it was. Huge mistake not to use him again in Warrior Within, or in Prince of Persia 2008. Nolan North did a decent job in the latter game, but sounded too much like Nathan Drake.

Guardians of Middle-earth review

BrokenSymmetry

No mention of the horrible matchmaking? Playing on the 360, I have matchmaking times of 6-30+ minutes, and even then often end up playing against all AI. This alone makes the game unplayable.
Like Demigod a few years ago, this seems another MOBA-style game that seems to be doomed due to its absence of dedicated servers and poor matchmaking, both of which are crucial for this type of game.

Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends Review

BrokenSymmetry

It's a great game (especially the tracks), but the difficulty is extremely uneven. The first few races (in the golden period), are pretty easy, even on hard, but then you get to a race that is completely impossible, even on the easiest difficulty level.

I greatly prefer Tim Burton's Batman. His Batman world is dark, stylish, sexy, funny. And it has Michelle Pfeiffer as catwoman.

Steering Wheel Group Review

BrokenSymmetry

I am very happy with the Microsoft Speed Wheel. It really is much more accurate and immersive than the controller. Also, it's so much easier to use than a "real" wheel, so you will actually use it.
So many people that are negative about it when they first see this wheel are really enthusiastic when they actually use it. For me, it's the best new accessory of this generation.

Mmm, very bland review, especially compared, for example, to the recent MotoGP review. Not very much about the helmet cam, the tracks, the racing experience in general.

NFS Shift is a great game. Most handling problems have been solved after the patches, and the game has by far the best in-car view of any racing game ever.

Homefront

Frontlines was underwhelming? For me it was one of the big surprises of the last few years. Multiplayer was great (50-player matches!), and even the single-player was surprisingly good, with all its gadgets and multiple approaches to complete goals.

"There will be racing fans who believe there wasn't anything that needed "curing" in the first place."

That's me. I absolutely adored the PGR games. The daily tournaments in PGR4 are still the best approach in any racing game to encourage an active online racing scene. The weather effects of PGR4 are still unequalled. I would have loved a new PGR game with greatly extended community features.

The away parties always consisting of 5, filled up with AI-controlled characters, sounds very much like the Guild Wars system of henchmen/heroes, which I think is a great system, and I think should be in every MMO.

It's good to see game devs trying the innovate in online multiplayer shooters. This game seems to build on some of the fetaures of Quake Wars (like the dynamically-created missions, in the PC version of that game), so I'm certainly interested.

Will Mythic still exist in a few years? I don't think so. The best talents at Mythic will probably be going to work on the Bioware games, and a minimal crew will be left at Mythic to keep Warhammer Online running for a few more years.

Tech Comparison: Street Fighter IV PC

BrokenSymmetry

I liked the re-review part of this article. I think it's only natural when someone looks at a game for technical reasons that he also has (or forms) an opinion about the game itself. Why shouldn't these opinions be allowed to be expressed?

Brink

ET:QW did exist on consoles, but the console versions were not made by Splash Damage, and all innovative features (like the dynamically-generated missions) were stripped. The console versions simply can not be compared to the original PC version.

Dragon Age: Origins

BrokenSymmetry

By saying "I think for a lot of players it's important to note that it is a PC game primarily." Bioware seems to want to keep the expectations for the console versions pretty low. Also, the fact that at this very late stage they're still experimenting with the console UI and control scheme leaves me wondering how polished the end result will be on consoles...

BrokenSymmetry

I've played Lineage II for a very short time (I got a free 2 months when Tabula Rasa was killed), and it's amazing to me how much effort NCSoft has put into the character design and animations, and how little into the gameplay. It was fun trying out all the emotes of the female dark elf, though.

Prince of Persia: Epilogue

BrokenSymmetry

Prince of Persia was my game of the year 2008, and its ending was the best ending I have seen in a game. I loved how the Prince doesn't say a word at all in the closing sequence, but just slaps his hands on the coffin, and brings eveything to its grim conclusion. So, I'll be getting this, for sure.

Need for Speed: Shift

BrokenSymmetry

This looks great so far. I hope that finally a console racer will have a great in-car view that is actually usable. PGR4 was worse than PGR3 in this respect (unreadable dials, too-low position), and Race Pro is a big disappointment in the graphical area.

Darkfall sees troubled, delayed launch

BrokenSymmetry

It was pretty hilarious, in the last few years, to read MMO forums about Darkfall, with some regarding it as the great saviour of the MMO genre, and others seeing it as vapourware from an obscure developer, only meant to take the pre-order money and run. It will be interesting to see how this pans out...

Excellent, excellent article! And the spiraling text input deservers another mention. That this has never been copied is mind-boggling.

Also a tip for pad-lovers: I played it with the 360 pad, using the Pinnacle pad-support software (http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com), and after customzing the inputs to be almost the same as the original Xbox version that works great!
