Welcome to the new Eurogamer

@Joestar7 No bud, there's nothing wrong with my leading comment. You've just told people who don't like the change to go somewhere else. You have no stance here.
Sort your comments to best and you'll get the decent people who actually have great input tot he community. Most of the non troll accounts that are frequent posters have great relationships with the staff and other members of the site. But with this new comment system the "best" comment sorting just doesn't work. Another reason this change is just lackluster
I would take it at an assumption you are also the person who downvoted my comment. Can't say I'm mithered, but it goes hand in hand with the people you're moaning about. Rather than have a discussion it's easier for you to attack a line of text and click a dislike button.

Most of the comments in this article give constructive criticism on why they don't like the new layout and changes.
-Adverts taking up over 75% of the screen on Computers
-Slow loading (could be down to the new site and people wanting too see it, high traffic, highly likely due to adverts, notorious for page slowdown)
-Much fewer articles linked from the main page now, which makes surfing the site less user friendly
-Rated comments don't show in order (but the threaded comments is a great addition, and I'll be honest, in my opinion this is the best comment section I've seen for ease of use)

And all of this came after a takeover where they pretty much promised minimum impact changes if any. It's a shame, if the community stays I will too, they make up a great part of this site, as does some of the writers personalities. But this new layout flat out sucks, it's generic just like every other site out there. It's pretty much a white version of IGN. The previous version while simple had charm, was easy to navigate and was user friendly.

We will get accustomed to the new layout, we'll have no choice, but that doesn't mean we cant prefer the older version and critique this one. It just has to be done correctly, and if you look at the most upvoted comments (you'll have to scroll because the sorting doesn't work) they're the ones who critique correctly, because that's the community that Eurogamer has, a decent one.

@Joestar7 I know, god forbid you allow people to have a different opinion. I genuinely hate this new design. Itís now just generic like every other site out there. Eurogamer for me had the best layout. Easy to acces older articles without the need of loading more pages. The comment section did need an update though. The percentage of screen thatís now ad space is just ridiculous.

The new design isnít ugly or bad. But the old one was better, easier to navigate and much more user friendly.

Looks like the buyout will kill everything we know about the site. Sucks, eurogamer was one of the only game news outlets that had heart, and it seems to be losing it.

Valve unveils plans to tackle Steam review bombers

Ashby678

I don't agree with some of the reason people decide to review bomb. However if a game drastically changes due to an update, I don't see why people shouldn't be allowed to change their opinion of a game, as long as they're being constructive about it.

Payday 2 would be an example I'd deem as acceptable, after their addition of lootboxes so long after their launch.

Xbox One X UK launch sales match Nintendo Switch, beat PlayStation 4 Pro

@MccyMcFlinn Oh don't worry, the sarcasm was fully there to see. I was more just elaborating on my statement. Although looking back at the previous generations, I only got a 360 because that's what my friends had at the time. I originally went with the Wii... because Zelda. The point I'm slowly getting to is a PS3 would have had more games for me to enjoy, although the only one I'm still missing out on playing due to PS$ versions is Demon Souls. Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, The Last of us, Uncharted I've all luckily been able to play on my PS4. And I was never a Halo fan, I can honestly only think of Gears and Mass Effect 1 that I benefited gamewise from having the 360 for.

Anyway I'm just rambling now.

@MccyMcFlinn or other generations saw another company offer me more games to my taste. N64>PS2>360/Wii/WiiU>PS4/Switch. I'm not loyal. Although I suppose I am to Nintendo, I've only not owned a GameCube.

That's because Microst didn't half ass their mid gen upgrade.
And I say that as a PS4 Pro owner that traded in his One S to put towards the switch.

Power aside, Sony offers me what I want this generation... games, as does the switch. Take nothing away From the One X though, it's a phenomenal piece of kit.

Destiny 2 review

Ashby678

I enjoyed 1 and I'm enjoying 2. I can't help feel it would have been better served as an expansion. With the type of game it makes trying to be, having locations from both games with all the new refinements would have made this game a much better prospect.

That being said, I'm really enjoying it so far, even more so now that someone posted on the forums a fix for the cabbage error for those with the affected routers.

Rocket League announced for Switch with cross-network play

Ashby678

@AdamNovice It's hardly giving a "leg up" though is it? It just makes matchmaking quicker and easier for a player looking for a match on all consoles. And you've only addressed the Cross-Play aspect, not them telling me EA Access isn't worth my money, surely that's the consumers decision to make?

I love my PS4 and it's the main thing I use to play games, but Sony have offered little to nothing "For the Players" since the consoles launch.

No backwards compatibility,No EA Access, No Cross-Play beyond steam, No Subscription Model (Game Pass).

Easy to argue Microsoft are only doing it because of their botched initial announcement, but it has helped deliver a great service to their user base.

@Ajent I managed to get mario Kart for £35. Saved £2 on checkout with prime and they had a voucher offer that saved £5 on games over £40. They're a joke of a company. TumbleSeed review

Ashby678

@JiveHound I feel pricing is generally included in any review that a game or software is subject to.

Most reviews, if they feel the price isn't worthy or potentially cheaper than they feel the content is worth will be mentioned in the review at some stage.

I'd point to Bomberman R as a more recent example of that. IGN mention in their opening paragraph the price is set too high, and Eurogamer mention it int their subheading.

So for the cost of this game, it's a recommend from Eurogamer, it's also getting good revies from other outlets too; 8's and 9's.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Nintendo's first UK chart topper in six years

Ashby678

@neems I really enjoyed it, especially considering it's only £4.50. It is short though. It took me an hour to complete on one of the characters. There are three characters to play and each save file encourages you to complete it on each character.

I feel it's worth the price and has high replay-ability due to the multiple characters and short nature. I'd recommend it personally.

@Daeltaja there's a normal retail and a Six Edition (collectors edition).

I managed to get hold of the collectors edition from GAME. It was only £27 too. It's comes in a really nice box, and comes with soundtrack, a small Six figure, some stickers and a poster. I really like the Six Edition. Fully worth the extra £11 in my view.

I'm really looking forward to arms too.

Microsoft is adding self-service refunds for digital Xbox/Win10 games

Ashby678

@HybridTheory85 I'd still go with months. EA access is EA, not Microsoft, I'm still annoyed Sony locked it on PS4 though. Origin access is better (albeit slightly) than EA Access.

The backwards compatibility is great though. The last few months with their Netflix style service and now a refund service akin to steams.

While I generally hate digital licences (Steam sales not included) there's certainly been s step in the right direction over the past 12 months on Steam and now Microsoft based services.

Microsoft scrapped plans to launch beefier Xbox console last year

Ashby678

@StarcasM You can read it how you want. I Own Zelda, Fast RMX, Snipperclips, Shovel Knight Trilogy, Snake Pass and Graceful Explosion Machine.
I'll also be buying Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Odyssey, Arms, Mr Shifty and Splatoon 2. But sure, it lacks games, don't be so naive!

Compare that to the Gears 4, Forza, Recore, Sunset Overdrive and Quantum break I bought the Xbox One for. I purchased it in November 2016, bought with gears and Fora for £240, Recore £20, Sunset Overdrive £7 and Quantum Break £20, totaling £287; I sold it in January this year getting £190 for the console and about £50 for the games, gears was digital so Still own that should I ever upgrade windows 10 or re-buy it, so it cost me £50 for three months and I got the chance to play all the games I wanted to on the console, Quite a bargain I'd say.

I didn't say the Xbox lacked games, I said it lacked exclusives, which it does. Had you the ability to be balanced and read the whole comment you'd have realised that. The cancellation of Scalebound was the nail in the coffin. If more exclusives are announced I'll probably pick one up again some time in the future. But for now, for me at least, it wasn't worth owning.

Hopefully you had the patience to read that.

Ashby678

I got rid of my Xbox One S earlier in the year due to lack of games.
Now I have my PS4 Pro and Switch. I feel the PS4 and it's Pro counterpart have the upper hand due to the amount of great exclusives currently out on it. Something seemingly missing so far on Xbox. I liked Recore, GoW 4 was great, I loved Forza Horizon 3. Personally I've never been a halo fan, but I can see the draw. Quantum Break I couldn't get into. They're also all similar games (mainly shooters), and I feel like that's what's letting it down.

Compare that to the likes of Bloodborne, Nioh (similar), Uncharted, Persona, Nier: Automata, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Horizon, MLB Not only are there arguable more games, there are more game types.

That being said, The Scorpio looks like it packs an incredible punch, I'd feel like I was being naive if I thought Sony didn't have something to answer the power it has 12 months down the line. I've always found the Pro comparable to the One S and not the Scorpio. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out from here on. Both have strong consoles, I feel Sony with the better lineup, but that's now, and that can all change.

I adore mine and can't put the thing down. I got it for Zelda but now own Snipperclips, Fast RMX and Shovel Knight.

Once there's a Pokemon game out for this it'll fly. It's clearly a successor to both the WiiU and 3DS.

The only things I am a little disappointed by is the lack of 3DS/ DS cartridge slot and the way game save files are kept.

Nintendo Switch off to solid sales start in UK

Ashby678

I've got to admit I'm absolutely loving mine so far. In my probably near 30 hours on Zelda (I genuinely cannot put it down) I've had one issue of one of my left joycon having slight connection issues. Other than that it's been fantastic. The only two small gripes I have is the battery life, I do not feel I'm even getting two hours from Zelda on about 35-40% brightness in airplane mode. I do have a 20,100mAH battery so I don't think it'll be an issue when I do use it on the go if the 10k one extends it as long as digital foundry's testing showed it to. With the other being no save backup (like the WiiU), but that being said, while hardware is always capable of faults, Nintendo really do have a good track record of Hardware not developing faults.

With it being a port of the WiiU build I cannot wait to see what this machine is capable of with software built specifically for it's architecture.
