I wonder, rather than bringing loot back to a base, whether or not you can take it somewhere to stash and create an elaborate map, with traps and pitfalls as to it's location. Then if the map falls into the wrong hands... 'Aaaar! We be goin' to Treasure Island, Master hawkins...'

Subnautica review

The game is jaw dropping in vr. Played it on a Lenovo Explorer with an xbox controller.
Can be a bit nausea inducing when on foot in bases etc, I counteract this by not strafing side to side. Out in the wide blu though...

Game is jaw droppingly good in VR. Controls need a bit of work though. Xbox controller works nicely. Movement can be a bit nausea inducing.

Things in games are having a moment

Fantastic read. Of course some games overdo "things". Mafia 3 comes to mind. Any time Lincoln goes near an object indoors... well "bull in a china shop" is the closest analogy.

While I can just about overlook Cole Phelps awful characterisation in L.A. Noire, one of the things I really enjoy is driving around the virtual city of Los Angeles.

BT signs exclusive rights to OnLive

Apollo

BT recently pulled out of ROI leaving VF to take over. My speeds while exellent during the day, when no-one is on, fall away to 0.25 megs or thereabouts after 7pm and stay that way for the rest of the evening. My online gaming sucks now and there is no viable alternative. Irish BB is feckin' awful... : (

Film critic slags off games

Apollo

Videogames by their nature require player choices, which is the opposite of the strategy of serious film and literature, which requires authorial control."

What Ebert fails to realise is that games too require authorial control. Even if we are given the illusion of choice, the end of the game must always be reached. Perhaps the out come may not always be the same, but we have been steered there by the creators "authorial decisions".
