Procedurally-generated high seas adventure Windward sets sails for May release

Think Sid Meier's Pirates! meets Diablo. Now on Early Access.

Procedurally-generated sailing adventure Windward will leave the safe harbours of Steam Early Access on 12th May.

Amazingly, Windward was developed by one man, Michael Lyashenko, who previously worked at Unity after developing the popular plugin NGUI.

Looking like a cross between Sid Meier's Pirates! and Diablo, Windward puts players in the role of a ship's captain sailing the high seas. You spawn in a procedurally-generated world, then it's up to explore and tackle situations as you see fit. More peaceful players can rely on diplomacy, trading and collecting, while more aggressive folks can operate as a plundering pirate.

Throughout your adventure you can level up your vessel in defense, support and offensive skill trees, so you can zip around as a nimble Schooner or stalk the seas as a massive Galleon.

Windward will feature full co-op as you can go through the entire game with a friend if you so desire.

Windward is currently available for PC, Mac and Linux on Steam Early Access for £10.99 (or £29.99 for a four-pack). It looks a little something like this:
