Pokémon Sword and Shield Farfetch'd evolution method: how to evolve Farfetch'd into Sirfetch'd explained

After over 23 years, Farfetch'd finally has a second stage evolution, Sirfetch'd, which made its first appearance Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Sirfetch'd is, however, exclusive to the Pokémon Sword, so its trading time if you own Shield and want to add this new Gen 8 Pokémon to your Pokédex.
Sirfetch'd is also has a unique evolution method, which revolves around its ability to battle.
Other Gen 8 Pokémon that have special evolution methods, include Applin, Milcery, Sinistea, Toxel and Yamask.

Where to find Farfetch'd in Pokémon Sword and Shield
First off, you can only catch Farfetch'd if you're playing Pokémon Sword.
Farfetch'd can be found on Route 5, which lies between Turffield and Hulbury, and at Giant's Mirror in the Wild Area.
Though Farfetch'd will only appear at the Giant's Mirror when the weather is cloudy / overcast.
You'll find Farfetch'd strolling through the long grass, holding its leek, in these areas.
How to evolve Farfetch'd into Sirfetch'd in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Farfetch'd will only evolve into Sirfetch'd if it manages to land three critical hits during one battle.
The best way to ensure that this happens is to enter battle with a trainer who has multiple Pokémon. This way you're giving Farfetch'd enough time to get its critical hits in, without ending the battle.
Farfetch'd can learn a number of moves that land Critical Hits more easily. This includes Leaf Blade at Level 55 or by using TR 50.
You can also teach Farfetch'd Focus Energy by using TR13, which will increase its ability to land Critical Hits.
You can also increase Farfetch'd's chance of landing a critical hit by giving it either the Scope Lens or the Razor Claw to hold.
The Scope Lens is located on Route 9 near the entrance to Spikemuth.
Head up the hill from the water section of this route and then turn left into the small dead-end to find this item on the ground.
You'll find the Razor Claw in Galar Mine No.2.
Follow the set path through the mine until you fight Worker Yvonne. Once she's defeated pick up the item that is to her left - this is the Razor Claw.
Finally, there is the Leek. This item is specific to Farfetch'd, boosting its critical-hit ratio, and can only be found by catching a Farfetch'd that already hold it.

How useful is Sirfetch'd in Pokémon Sword and Shield?
If you're prepared to put in the work, then Sirfetch'd can be an incredibly powerful fighting Pokémon.
Between Level 55 and 70, it can learn a variety of powerful moves, including Leaf Blade and Meteor Assault. It can also learn Swords Dance before this, allowing it to up its Attack stat and deliver some truly powerful blows.
Due to having an advantage over dark and rock-type Pokémon, Sirfetch'd is also very useful in the later stages of both games. Especially the sixth Pokémon Gym, which, in Sword, is rock-type and, in Shield, is ice-type.
A lot of the late game trainers you battle also have steel-type Pokémon in their parties, which Sirfetch'd can also make quick work of.
Basically if you're looking for a fighting-type Pokémon, then Sirfetch'd is an excellent choice.
