Pokémon Go celebrates Halloween by flooding self with yet more Zubats, Drowzees

Gastly.

Halloween is a special time of year. Originating from the Gaelic festival of Samhaim - one marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of Winter - it's now a spooky celebration of E-numbers and questionable costumes.

This year, not wanting to miss out on the fun, Niantic Labs is marking Halloween by saturating Pokémon Go with all the ghost and psychic Pokémon you've caught a hundred times already. Oh good.

For the duration of the special Halloween promotion you can catch Zubat, Golbat, Drowzee, Hypno, Gastly, Gengar and Haunter more readily, as there'll be flipping loads of them gumming up your screen. In keeping with the time honoured tradition of trick or treating, however, there will at least be bonus candy on offer for all players; the amount of candy given out each time a Pokémon is caught, hatched or transferred will be doubled.

Halloween in Pokémon Go will run from October 26th to November the 1st. Mark it in your diary now and with a bit of luck you can miss it entirely and come back once Drowzee numbers return to normal.
