Piranha 3DD, Saw screenwriters sign to God of War film

Universal will get them to the Greek.

The screenwriting team behind Piranha 3DD and the latter half of the Saw series have signed up to the God of War film adaptation.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan will rewrite the God of War script for Universal Pictures, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The duo's credits include Saw 4, Saw 5, Saw 6 and Saw 3D.

The initial script was written by Road to Perdition scribe David Self, who remains executive producer.

A film version of God of War has been in development hell since its announcement in 2005. Bond actor Daniel Craig was once offered the title role of Kratos. He turned it down.

God of War: Ascension, due on PlayStation 3 next year.
