Ori and the Blind Forest is getting an expansion this year

UPDATE: Will be released as a Definitive Edition.

UPDATE 07/08/2015 11.46pm Ori and the Blind Forest developer Moon Studios clarified that the game is actually getting a Definitive Edition for Xbox One and PC due later this year.

Moon Studios co-founders Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol announced the enhanced edition on the official Xbox Gamescom livestream [below].

"We received a ton of fan feedback and are just trying to make this the ultimate version of Ori," Mahler said.

"We really listened to what fans had to say about the game," Korol added. "We are actually adding a lot of new content such as new areas, which are going to be using new mechanics."

Moon Studios added on Facebook that "People that already own the game will be able to upgrade for a very comfortable price."

ORIGINAL STORY 06/08/2015 6.34pm Acclaimed platformer Ori and the Blind Forest is getting an expansion later this year on Xbox One and Windows 10, Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has revealed on Twitter.

The game took developer Moon Studios nearly five years to make, and it turned a profit after only one week on sale. Moon Studios' founder, Thomas Mahler, even expressed a desire for the IP to expand into film and suggested he'd like to make more Ori games. "I think we crafted a big world with memorable characters and there's a lot of potential for us to go in and keep working on that tale," he said back in April, not long after Ori's launch in March.

Eurogamer contributor Dan Whitehead recommended Ori and the Blind Forest in his review. "It's no exaggeration to say that Ori and the Blind Forest is still arguably the best Microsoft console exclusive of the last six months," he stated.
