It just wouldn't be E3 without Nintendo, and while the Japanese giant has a diminished presence it's still demoing what's set to be one of the highlights of the show. We'll be seeing plenty of the new Zelda, a little on Pokémon and hopefully a little more besides. Join us here from 5pm BST to see it all unfold.

One hour to go, and I am pumped.
(Full of coffee in a vain attempt to stir from this awful E3 slumber I'm in right now after two nights that have dragged on to 5am).
I do love Zelda and his pointy green hat. He is my favourite Nintendo.
Anyway, I'm going to spend the next 30 minutes playing my 3DS in an attempt to wake myself.
I feel a bit smug as I'm currently playing one of the games that's going to be in this conference/show.

megatronix: Re Zelda: I'm from Poland, and we did not had nes or snes there ( ther then korean nes pirate called Pegasus, with completely wicked names, sometimes even completely misused ), but I was lucky, and got snes from my wanderful, but unfortunately now late, grandmother, and i got ALTTP. But it was in German and I couldn't understand a word! So I have created my own mythos for this game as a kid. That was fun! Now I'm grown up, and trying myself in game design, and bringing up the mythos back!
This is a beautiful story!

Seeing as Everything is Dads at this year's E3, I wonder if Nintendo's gone a similar direction with Zelda.

Hope that wasn't a Game of Thrones spoiler, @ecco.
Probably my favourite thing about the new Zelda is how it so fully evokes the NES original.
The art-style is pulled straight from the manual, the more open-ended design from the game itself.
I don't want to talk too much about it yet as I don't want to disrespect Pokémon - which looks ace.

I just watched the Zelda trailer again. Nintendo remain the only game makers in the world who know how to deploy an accordion in a soundtrack. Respect.

This is the very start of the game, with Link waking up in an almost sci-fi environment.
A fully-voiced Zelda, it seems, but Link remains mute.
You can play this new Zelda nude, if you want.
That's my takeaway. Well, I think I played Twilight Princess fully nude as well, but I don't think it's quite the same.
There's loot and armour and full load-outs.
The logo, while harking back to the original NES game, also has a strong Nausicaa/Ghibli vibe.
As does the soundtrack, which could almost be Joe Hisaishi.
There's a stamina bar - which featured in some small way in Skyward Sword - and scaleable environments.

I think it's being used sparingly. I still prefer the old text approach, for sure.
Well, this is certainly a stronger opening to a Zelda than that of Twilight Princess. Not a goat to be herded.

This is a proper sandbox Nintendo game, which is what really fascinates me.
Holy holy the Koroks from Wind Wakers return.

In fairness to them, the Zelda they showed back then looked very, very different to this one.
Zelda bombshell: rupees and hearts no longer come out of grass.
Weapon durability is in.
The absence of hand-holding is impressive.
Discovery of systems seems organic.
Kami: It does feel Souls-y.
Souls games always felt like what Zelda could have evolved into, if Nintendo took a different path.
This looks like a beaten-down peahat to me.
I'd happily take a Nintendo Light Souls.
The demo just timed out - so I think that suggests there's a brief 15-minute window on the E3 demo.
