Nintendo registers 3DS trademarks

N3DS, 3DS, 3DSPlay and 3DSWare.

Nintendo has trademarked the names 3DS, N3DS, 3DSPlay and 3DSWare.

They suggest that 3DS may be a more "formal" name than Satoru Iwata was prepared to admit earlier this month.

Siliconera spotted the trademarks. Among them were DS Sound, DS Name Card, DS Magazine, DSMovie, DSCamera, DSiCinema, DSMessage, DSMusic and DSAlbum.

The aforementioned 3DSPlay and 3DSWare could be the respective equivalents of Wii Play and DSiWare.
