Nintendo of America indie chief leaves company
Can now tweet again.
Nintendo of America's indie game chief has left the company.
Dan Adelman spent nine years helping indie developers get their games on Nintendo consoles.
But in recent months he encountered difficulties and, according to Gamasutra, was was blocked from using Twitter by his bosses after engaging in a discussion about region locking on the 3DS.
@Cheesemeister3k @gypsyOtoko @lite_agent @EndRegionLock I too used to live in Japan. Had 2 SNESs - one Japanese, one US. I feel your pain.

Today, in announcing his departure, Adelman referenced that gagging order.
Happy to announce I reached an arrangement w/ @NintendoAmerica whereby I can tweet again. Arrangement includes my not working there anymore.

In an interview with Kotaku, Adelman explained what had happened:
"I had been strongly encouraged to stay off of Twitter - or at least say only things that were clearly safe - so after the region locking comment they just said I needed to stop completely. When people started complaining that I wasn't active on Twitter anymore, it was suggested that a PR person could just post in my name. I thought that was about the worst idea I'd ever heard, so I left it as is and let the silence speak for itself."
Adelman said he plans to try to help indie developers self-publish their games across a variety of platforms, as well as blog about his business insights.
